Christ's Olivet Discourse: Signs Of The End Of This World

Our Lord Jesus gave His Church the main signs of the very end of this present world, and they parallel the Seals He gave through Apostle John in Revelation 6.

Matt 24:1-3
24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, 'See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.'
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, 'Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?'

When Jesus' disciples showed Him the temple mount buildings, His response of not one stone would be standing on top of another caused them to understand He was speaking of the time of His return, His second coming with, "what shall be the sign of thy coming?" That defined that "end of the world" phrase being about the future day of His second coming. This is in prep for giving the signs to occur just prior to our Lord Jesus' return.

1st Sign:
Matt 24:4-5
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, 'Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.'

In 1 John 2:18, John remarked how they had already heard that "antichrist" shall come, but that already there were "many antichrists". This warning our Lord Jesus gives here is about the "many antichrists" idea. Even in my time there have been many that have claimed to be Christ. That idea actually began after Christ's death and resurrection, so this is still not a definite time marker for the end. It's showing its continuation to the end though.

The real time marker is the actual coming of the singular "antichrist" John also mentioned. That false one Jesus warns about in a later sign in this chapter.

In 2 Thessalonians 2, we are also shown about the difference between the single "antichrist" and the "many antichrists" of John. Paul in 2 Thess.2 warns of a specific antichrist coming to sit in the temple in Jerusalem proclaiming to be God, and then later mentions that the "mystery of iniquity" is already at work, pointing to the "many antichrists" idea of John.


1st Seal Parallel:
Rev 6:1-2
6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

The first main sign of warning Jesus gave in His Olivet Discourse was to not let any man deceive us. That matches the 1st Seal, this false one coming on a white horse, copying the way our Lord Jesus returns on a white horse (Rev.19). This false one has a 'bow' of cheap fabric, and the crown thus represents a simple wreath like the Roman conquerers wore.

In 2 Corinthians 11, Apostle Paul warned of those who preach the "another Jesus", and claiming such are false apostles. This rider on a white horse coming like our Lord Jesus does is in that same sense. It's an attempt to appear like our Lord Jesus so we might fall to worship that false one in place of our Lord Jesus. That is the actual meaning of the word "antichrist" from the Greek (anti = instead of or in place of). The warning: don't be deceived.

Notice the white horse rider representing the coming Antichrist is given first here in Rev.6. Nor does it specifically say this is the 1st Seal, but it is assumed that it's the 1st Seal. The likely reason is because in the order of the endtime events, the Antichrist doesn't appear until a later time. Notice this Seal event also matches the order Jesus gave for the first sign of the end in His Olivet Discourse.

2nd Sign:
Matt 24:6-8
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

We'd hear of wars and rumors of wars, and that's not the time to be troubled. In other words, as long as wars and rumors of wars are going on, then the very end of this world is not yet. The very end is the time to perk up and really be watching the events going on in the world, and especially in Jerusalem.

This sign is where I believe we are at the end right now. Wars are still going on, kingdom is against kingdom still, and particularly in places like Africa still, there are famines and pestilences.


The 2nd Seal, 3rd Seal, and 4th Seal parallel the 2nd Sign:

2nd Seal:
Rev 6:3-4
3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

The red horse thus represents a war horse, and is the parallel to Jesus' 2nd sign in His Olivet Discourse.

3rd Seal:
Rev 6:5-6
5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

Try to remember when the previous Seals start, it doesn't necessarily mean they end with the start of another Seal. The events overlap somewhat.

The 3rd Seal black horse represents the workings of world commerce. At present the globalists are trying to balance all the world's economies, which means removing wealth of wealthy nations and giving it to poorer nations, regardless of other's nation's political or religious beliefs. The "one world government" concept is the brotherhood of mankind concept of the initiate fraternities, so they don't see any difference between Christianity and other religions and practicies. They intend to blend everything into their own concept of world religion for all under the coming Antichrist.

On this Seal they are told to not hurt the Oil or the Wine. Those are symbols for The Holy Spirit and God's Word of Truth. That means for Christ's elect during the end, His Truth is not to be cut off. We are to be watching and realize what is happening in the world.

4th Seal:
Rev 6:7-8
7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

This 4th Seal also matches our Lord's 2nd Sign in His Olivet Discourse. The pale horse rider's name is "Death", so who do you think that is? It's the devil himself. The powers over the 4th part of the earth are in four parts and are symbols for how Satan's host on earth work controls over all nations and peoples for the end:

"to kill with the sword" - the sword Jesus wields when He comes that cuts both ways represents His Word of Truth. So this sword of the devil represents... LIES. Geopolitically, it points to world control of education (UNESCO, etc.).

"and with hunger" - famine, but per Amos 9:9, God said in the last days there would be a famine, not for food or water, but for looking for the Word of God and not finding it. This represents control of economies and religion.

"and with death" - the ultimate death for the end is deception to worship of the devil, which means death to the soul. So false world religion at the end is what this represents.

"and with the beasts of the earth" - the brute beasts of 2 Pet.2:12 and Jude 1:10, the world controllers who work for Satan on this earth. The "mystery of iniquity". Those gone the ways of Cain. Those who work the political.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Seals of Revelation 6 parallel our Lord Jesus' 2nd sign He gave in His Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24 and Mark 13. Continuing in His Olivet Discourse with the next sign:

9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

This is about some of us being delivered up to councils and the synagogue of Satan to give a Testimony for Jesus against them. Jesus commanded us to not think what we will say beforehand, but to speak what The Holy Spirit gives us to speak. This event will be the actual fulfillment of the Joel 2 prophecy that Peter quoted on Pentecost, actually showing that Pentecost was only an example of this cloven tongue event set for the very end of this world. Every peoples in every nation that hears Christ's elect speak will hear in their own language and dialect of birth, just as it was on Pentecost in Acts 2. God is going to speak through His elect for this time at the end, and His two witnesses of Revelation 11 in Jerusalem are part of it.

5th Seal Parallel:
Rev 6:9-11
9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, 'How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?'
11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Some of us they will kill when that delivering up happens in our near future during the tribulation. We are not to fear it.

4th Sign:
Matt 24:15-26
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, 'Lo, here is Christ, or there'; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, 'Behold, he is in the desert'; go not forth: 'behold, he is in the secret chambers'; believe it not.

All those Matthew 24:15-26 verses are of the same sign of the coming Antichrist to Jerusalem claiming to be The Christ. It is the same type of warning Apostle Paul gave in 2 Thessalonians 2 about the coming "man of sin" to sit in the "temple of God" in Jerusalem and proclaim himself to be God, and over all that is worshiped, or that is called God. In Daniel 11, this represents the "vile person" placing the abomination idol that makes the future new temple in Jerusalem the unbelieving Jews will build, spiritually desolate.

This is why our Lord Jesus warned here that if someone comes up to you and says, "Christ is here!", to not believe it. And He warned against that twice, for emphasis. Also to show that this coming pseudo-Christ will try to pass himself off as Christ, our Lord Jesus shows by those working of great signs and wonders that false one will do, it will be so powerful in deception that it would, if possible, deceive even His own very elect.

Per the Book of Daniel, and the final "one week" of Dan.9 and its events in Dan.11, this period represents the middle of the "one week" when the false one in Jerusalem will end the daily sacrifices and place the abomination idol in the temple for false worship instead. That is the latter half of Daniel's "one week" which represents 1260 days of the total period. It is the 42 months mentioned in Revelation 11 when the Gentiles will tread the holy city at the very end of this world. It is the 42 months of Revelation 13 that the "dragon" is given to reign over all nations and peoples at the very end.

5th Sign:
Mark 13:25
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

That verse is about the events of Rev.12:7-9 when Satan and his host are cast down to this earth for the tribulation. That is when Satan and his angels are cast out of heaven and there is no more place found for them in heaven.

6th Seal (Part A) Parallel:
Rev 6:12-13
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

This part of the 6th Seal is about the events of the tribulation sign Jesus gave in His Olivet Discourse with the Antichrist coming and then placing the "abomination of desolation" in Jerusalem at the very end of this world. Per Revelation 12:7 forward, there will be a war in Heaven between Michael and his angels vs. Satan and his angels. At that point in time there will be no more place in Heaven found for Satan and his angels, as they will be booted out down to this earth in our earthly dimension. Remember in 2 Cor.11 Paul said that no marvel, for Satan is disguised as an angel of light, and his ministers as the ministers of righteousness? It will be that kind of time on earth folks. He is coming to play God in Jerusalem.

That's what these stars of heaven falling to earth is about. The metaphor of a fig tree casting her untimely figs symbolizes that event of Satan and his angels cast down to earth in our near future. An untimely fig is a winter fig that is an early fig; it grows in the winter but then falls off in the spring. The true time of the good edible fig harvests in summer, as that is the time symbol our Lord Jesus used for His coming, like in the following verses:

32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

In Jeremiah 24, our Heavenly Father showed Jeremiah two baskets of figs as symbols for certain peoples. The good edible basket of figs represented the good people of Judah. But the basket of poison, non-edible figs represented the children of darkness. That is part of this parable of the fig tree, as this "untimely fig" idea in the 6th Seal symbolizes Satan and his host coming to play God and get you to gather to him instead of waiting on our Lord Jesus' coming afterwards. And if you are 'gathered' early, being deceived to the Antichrist thinking he is our Lord Jesus, then you will be like the "untimely fig" that grows early, in the winter, and falls off in the spring. The idea is, you want to be a sweet edible summer fig to be gathered by our Lord Jesus Christ. Thus, wait for Jesus.

6th Sign:
Matt 24:29-31
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The final event Jesus gave in His Olivet Discourse is that of His second coming, His return to this earth (Zech.14), and the gathering of His Church. In this gathering example, He sends His angels to gather His "asleep" saints from one end of heaven to the other. In the Mark 13:27 example, He sends His angels to gather His saints from the uttermost parts of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven, which represents the saints still alive on earth when He comes being "caught up" (1 Thess.4).

6th Seal (Part B):
Rev 6:14-17
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

The great day of God's wrath is the "day of the Lord", which is the very last day of this present world. The Old Testament prophets were given to write much about the events of that day, which is why Paul in 1 Thess.5 attached a "sudden destruction" event with it, and Peter also in 2 Peter 3:10 about God's consuming fire burning man's works of this earth on that day. In other words, nothing will survive on earth on that "day of the Lord" except the things of God's creation that did not involve man. On that day, this present flesh world time will end, and we all will be ushered into Christ's future "thousand years" reign of Revelation 20.

That is why these kings of the earth will seek to hide from God and The Lamb on that day, because a desctruction on earth from The Almighty is what that above wrath is about. And when the unbelieving finally see Jesus coming in the clouds, their shame will cause them to want to die, pleading for the mountains and rocks to, "Fall on us, and hide us...".

Summary:
I numbered the signs Jesus gave to be only 6. But really there are 7 signs, and they parallel the 7 Seals, 7 Trumpets, and 7 Vials of Revelation. It's important to note that a nearly believable false-Christ is coming first to deceive, and the last sign He gave was that of His return and gathering of His Church.

1. there is no word "rapture" in God's Word (I refer to the manuscripts of God's Word, nor in the KJV Bible, nor later revisions).

2. man's usage of that word "rapture" came from a LATIN translation of the Greek word harpazo ("caught up" phrase).

3. There WILL... be a "caught up" (harpazo) event of Christ's Church that's still alive on earth when He comes (per Paul in 1 Thess.4).

4. There is a huge difference between the "caught up" (or rapture or harpazo) event, and what some call a Pre-tribulational Rapture.

5. The Pre-tribulational Rapture theory is an idea that was first preached in 1830's Great Britain by the Edward Irving church and John Nelson Darby. It teaches Christ catches up the Church off the earth before the tribulation starts. There is NO Bible evidence for this idea.

The war at the very end of this world, for the tribulation Jesus warned us about, it is a spiritual war. But it will be literally on this earth. Satan and his angels are coming to our world, in person, in sight. The world will physically 'see' Satan and his angels. They will not... know it is Satan. That is the warning.

Satan is a beautiful cherub. God made him the full pattern. Satan has no pitchfork, he has no red underwear, he has no goat horns. The world will see he is beautiful and will worship him. He is coming here, with his angels.
