To all you Church/religion haters, Church is a hospital, not a place of honor/esteem, like university or an exclusive club. When you visit church, you are visiting the sick! Attending church is to receive God’s healing grace in a special way; you are also providing comfort for the other sick people.

Before you scoff, you all have benefited greatly from this hospital; the doctrine in your head was not zap there by God - you learned it from church/religion/hospital or people who did. Yes, God made it understandable to you, but it was actually provided by God’s Hospital.

We need to stop attacking our Hospitals! In fact, we should be continuing to receive treatment ourselves and working to improve the care provided by woefully imperfect doctors and nurses. Church is remedial - it provides basic treatment, which compels us to learn more and practice our sanctification; loving God and others imperfectly while we wait for perfection in Heaven. This condition/lifestyle is enrollment in the Kingdom of God within!

If you have received as much as you need at the moment from Church - don’t bite the hand that feeds you; remember your brothers and sisters who enjoy it and are benefiting now. Some of us have stopped watching Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers long ago, but there is a general consensus on how important and valuable those programs were in preparing children for higher learning and loving their neighbors.

Ok that was just analogy this thread is not about attacking ‘liberal’ programming. Does framing Church as a hospital change your perspective about church? Religion? Doctrine?

No. I worked in a mental hospital in my early 20's; church (and this forum) are much the same.
Gosh Willy.... I wonder if you are talking about me? Should we all start sing Alice Cooper's "Inmates (We're all Crazy)"? [Smile!]

Luke 4:17-18 KJV
And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, [18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Church is more than just a hospital... But I like this anolgy!

It is so much more than 'just' a hospital, but I agree that we don't go to church for what we can get, we should be going for what we can give, to others in the congragation.
Jesus gave he often forgotten illistration/example of serving others.

It should be a 'local' church, where one knows and is known by most people.
"Say No to Mega churches"

As it is local, it also Has to be accountable to the congragation, financially, spiritualy and legally.
As member we have to be able to ask questions and get answers.

And it can also be considered prison,

Exo_8:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

but many prefer there churches and there religions, prefer to serve men.

Mat 20:25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
Mat 20:26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;

than there is Babylon

1Co 14:6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
1Co 14:7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
1Co 14:8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?
1Co 14:9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
1Co 14:10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

far to many voices

Mat 8:21 And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Mat 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

we want Christ we must leave the world behind.

I speak of most of us. LOL One thing that was eye-opening in the six years I worked there is that very few of us are a whole lot different than many of the patients there.
