Hi guys,

A friend post this on facebook today, its simple of course, but touched my heart because its true.

http://www.theblazingcenter.com/2014/05/church-is-for-messy-people.html

There are a lot of people who I read on this forum who reject others based on false interpretation of scripture. (however I do understand that this forum caters to many veiws)

The one thing I do notice with many of those who proclaim everybody else to be evil and not saved is a fundamental be it possibly unintentional shift away from the person of Christ and his image. this is very obviously where us as humankind find our identity. God who became man, this was an intentional stepping down for us. Gods wrath was upon man (Thats us, you and me) God became fully a man being still fully God and took the penalty of "OUR SINS"
From this point on we can only call ourselves righteous through the blood shed by the "God Man" Righteousness is not found in your interpretation of scripture, but you spiritual growth surly is, along with prayer and fellowship.

The formula was very specifically laid out in John 3:16. why do we think this is the most popular biblical verse in the world including amongst a broad spectrum of nonbelievers, because this is the way to salvation, its a billboard of a Scripture for all to see!

the path is not narrow because many calling themselves christian do not see the "hidden instructions" so many on this forum profess to see and therefore use to confuse and condemn others.

Gods word does not hide the truth from any man seeking salvation in the name of Christ, anyone teaching this is guilty of heresy.

I cried out to Christ and experienced Christ as a sinner still in my sin, it wasnt for sometime later I was baptised. I did not experience Christ on the day of my baptism but I certainly did the night in my pain I cried out.

After this I began to learn of repentance and baptism, this through scripture. My salvation did not come by way of baptism or special type of baptism or by way of repentance,................ It came as I called upon the name of Christ.

The only righteousness I or any man can claim is by way of his Name, the rest is a journey in which you will struggle every tiny step and if you believe in the work of Christ (not on a single shred of your own righteous efforts) you can believe no matter what you did or did not find in scripture, no matter how badly you keep constantly screwing it all up, that you are saved

Acts 4:12

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."

Dont allow anyone to take this from you, this is all you have. Christ is not a deceiver, there is no hidden prerequisites to salvation riddled amongst the text, there is no extra work to be done, all those who teach this need to be ashamed and need forgiveness.

If you believe in Christ and call upon his name, you are saved and you can hang on to that for the rest of your life, in this way there is freedom in the name of Christ.

Luke 4:18
"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,

Thats you and me :)

Just to clarify

By all means be baptised, cry out to Christ while your in the water, practice discipline in your life to mimic the purification that has happened within, do all those things, but these are not the means by which to be saved, these are merely the acts of men.

The strength is in the name of Christ, not the outward acts of men, to teach otherwise is to take power away from the Name and place it back in to the hands of men.

How can we tell ourselves, that it is not until we are baptised that we are saved? or that it is when we are living a repentant life we are saved?

These things are manifest of an inward change made by God and these things will take all our lives to practice, they are not the means by which to claim salvation.

When we teach otherwise we take the power away from Christ and his work.

Hello,

When I do sin and am not proud of myself, it helps me to think of the OT story alluded to just before what Jesus said in John 3:16 : "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him" (John 3:14-15, NIV 2011).

Numbers 21:4-9 shows us a people suffering the consequence of their having spoken against Moses and against God. When they prayed, God told Moses to make a bronze snake. Those who would looked at it would live, the remaining would die. They all had sinned in the same manner, yet the way to not die was to believe what God had told Moses and look at the snake.

Then comes John 3:16 : "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (NIV 2011).

Even when I feel good about my relationship with God, I still do find great comfort in reading the entire sequence of John 3:16-16ff bearing in mind the passage from Numbers 21:4-9. It reminds me to look at Christ as the only means to have life, in spite of what I did, no matter how bad I think it is.

God bless!
