Colossians 3:18 King James Version (KJV)

18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

These are my thoughts.

Many women have a problem with this but it what the Lord wants, what the Lord wants is best even when it goes against what we want.

Many women have a problem with this but it what the Lord wants, what the Lord wants is best even when it goes against what we want.

That verse is for women, and not for men to hold over them. Here are our (men) verses and we should concentrate on them.

1 Peter 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Col. 3:19

Many men have a problem with this, but it is what the Lord wants, too. Your wives will find it much easier to respect you if you love them.

Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives...

Husbands, love your wives is much more personal and accurate and is more in line with "as Christ loved the Church", since He is the Bridegroom and the Church is the Bride (wife).

"Don't be bitterly angry with them"?

We are not to be angry with them at all. American English Bible makes is sound like we can be angry with them, just not "bitterly" angry with them.

Col 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

21 Fathers; Don’t [demand too much of] your children, so they don’t become discouraged.

Parents should try to bring their children upright but not in a way that makes them remain angry with their parents years later.

We need to work hard because we represent the Lord.

We need to realize we represent the Lord when we work and give our all for Him as we do things.

With serving the Lord there is rewards.

to me this verse tells me that if i want the sonship that comes from being in Christ that i need to work hard for the Lord. the rewards are all an incentive for sonship in Christ.

25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

25 Because, the unrighteous will be [judged] impartially for the unrighteous things that they're doing.

The Lord shows no favoritism but He does give forgiveness to anyone who accepts Him.
