My experience with designing Zinc galvanising pots is that the interface temperature of the steel/zinc boundary has to be kept below 420°C otherwise the Zinc will dissolve the steel shell of the galvanising pot very quickly, even just overnight for a 50 mm thick steel pot.
The Phase diagram for Aluminum/Iron is very similar to that of the Zinc/Iron Phase diagram which tells me that any liquid Aluminium alloy in contact with the steel in the twin towers will dissolve the steel at temperatures around 500°C.
This is another fact that should be considered in the collapse twin Towers.
