The media both foreign and domestic, the same folks we all trust with every word they speak and write, would have us all believe that Mr. Obama and Mr. Putin are on opposite sides of an international competition.
We've heard and read it all before ad nauseum.
West vs. East (still pretty clear)
Communists/socialists vs. capitalists (this definition has gotten very fuzzy lately)
Dictatorship of a few vs. Mandate of the majority (well...that's the way it USED TO BE - both sides seem equal on this one these days)
The media would seem to have us all believe that we're on the verge of a new cold war with Mr. Obama & Mr. Putin serving as coaches for their respective national teams.
But are they really?
An informal poll of those who travel across the USA by air and wander through our nations' airports revealed a different attitude.
It goes something like this...
Mr. Obama & Mr. Putin have some sort of secret agreement to manipulate events.
There's all sorts of justification for this attitude and explaining rationale for it eats up a lot of time when you're waiting for a call to board your flight. The details seem to be a bit fuzzy too. I haven't been able to find any justification for it in the world press on either side of the field.
So my question to the reader here is to ask what proof, if any, you may have discovered to support the contention that Mr. Putin and Mr. Obama are in bed together, politically speaking?
Are the two nations maneuvering for position on the world stage as they've done for decades?
Or are people just really really bored with the news people telling us what to think and have come up with a new kind of parlor game?
Is it the same old game or is something new going on? Are the national leaders butting heads or shaking hands and patting each other's back?
What say you?
