Jesus did not shy away from lepers, outcasts, the sick, or the hungry. He did not just look on their suffering; he had “compassion,” he suffered with them. Jesus went immediately from the baptism of John (identification with sinners) into the wilderness where he experienced loneliness, hunger, and spiritual temptation, all common to the lot of the poor.

It is the poor that truly find God, it is the darkness that takes in the light. May I add that Jesus also blessed pagans and came into conflict with organised religion and institutionalised belief systems. After all it was government that put him on the cross and the secular belief system of the Jews that presented him. We must rebuke our belief in government and learn to see Truth in all walks of spirituality. Truth does not exist within a box, nor does the Christian church own Truth. Belief systems must be sacrificed for Truth and the practice of corralative thinking needs to be introduced if we are to see common ground.
