That doesn't mean a whole lot these days.

Many colleges and universities white wash communism to make it sound like it's a good system.
It is not.
No governmental system works perfectly. Liberal governments kill people.Conservative governments kill people.
Remember Tony Blair?

He has nothing going for him.

Except for that not being a communist part.

It's all kinda a moot point is it not? The king has no power.

My wife used to like to follow ya'll queen before she passed. She though all that royalty stuff was cool and she would get mad at me when I would remind her we had a war of independence back in the day to not be under British rule.

And then Britain punished the US be sending all their musicians over here and got that hippie revelation going back in the 60s.
The US still hasn't recovered from that, so thanks a lot!

Don't mention it, our pleasure.

This thread is called conversation with an atheist.
Would any of you like to ask me about my life in general? After all that's where meaningful conversations start.

I've got lot's to say. Not believing in God is a tiny part of my life and doesn't really come up in regular conversation.

No. Atheism is inherently nihilistic. It’s not merely a denial but a positive determination; there is no God.

But why defend it since you do believe in a Creator?

Had to look up the meaning of this word on the internet so as to understand what was being said to make sense of what the author was saying.

nihilistic

/ˌnʌɪ(h)ɪˈlɪstɪk/

Nihilistic means relating to nihilism, a philosophical view that life, the universe, and human actions lack any inherent meaning, objective purpose, moral values, or truth.

Core Beliefs of a Nihilistic Viewpoint

  • No Inherent Purpose: The universe does not have a master plan, divine design, or built-in reason for existence.
  • Rejection of Morality and Religion: Traditional religious structures, moral codes, and social laws are viewed as human inventions rather than universal truths.
  • Skepticism Toward Knowledge: It questions whether absolute truth or objective knowledge can ever be truly known.
Common Types of Nihilism

  • Existential Nihilism: The belief that life has no intrinsic value or point.
  • Moral Nihilism: The rejection of objective right and wrong; morals are seen as social constructs.
  • Political Nihilism: The belief that existing political, religious, and social institutions are corrupt or useless and should be torn down.
  • Epistemological Nihilism: The idea that genuine knowledge or communication is impossible.
Historical Context

The word comes from the Latin root nihil, meaning "nothing". While early philosophical skeptics touched on these ideas, the concept gained widespread attention in 19th-century Europe through thinkers like Friedrich Jacobi, Ivan Turgenev, and Friedrich Nietzsche (famous for declaring "God is dead" as traditional value systems collapsed).

Nihilistic (Cambridge Dictionary)

adjective

connected with a belief that all political and religious organizations are bad, or a system of thought that says that there are no principles or beliefs that have any meaning or can be true:
