The origin of the Sabbath has been debated by scholars with some that argue that the Sabbath originated at the time of Moses. A major reason why the question of the origin of the Sabbath has attracted much attention is because with it is bound the larger question of whether or not the principle and practice of seventh-day Sabbathkeeping is binding upon Christians. So we will look at this question at Creation and see what it has.
Genesis 2:1-4
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,

Verse 1 and 4 makes clear when the origin happened, as it was after man was made and all the work of creation finished, which helps in understanding that the Sabbath was established by God at creation for the benefit of mankind, which would make its observance as a creation ordinance binding upon all, Jews and Christians.

if we look at verse 2 and 3 we find in the verses that the Biblical view of the origin of the Sabbath is unequivocal: the Sabbath, as seventh day, originated at the completion of the creation week as a result of three divine acts: God "rested," "blessed," and "hallowed" the seventh day.

Twice we see that it states that God "rested" on the seventh day from all His work. The Hebrew verb shabat, translated "rested," denotes cessation and not relaxation. Now in Exodus 20:11 the idea of rest is expressed by the Hebrew verb nuah, which is used, is as where the divine rest fulfills an anthropological function: it serves as a model for human rest. In Genesis 2:2-3 however, the divine rest has a lager function as it serves to explain that God was content to be the Creator of this world and did not need to proceed to further creations here on the earth, it ended at that point. To acknowledge this fact, God stopped or ceased.

Genesis 2:2 affirms that the Creator "blessed" (brk) the seventh day just as He had blessed animals and man on the previous day. Divine blessings in the Scripture are not merely "good wishes," but assurance of fruitfulness, prosperity, and a happiness in life. In terms of the seventh day, it means that God has promised to make the Sabbath a beneficial and vitalizing power through which human life is enriched and renewed. In Exodus 20:11 the blessing of the creation seventh day is clearly linked with the weekly Sabbath, and the same rest.

Exodus 20:10-11
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The theological reasons given for the command to observe the seventh day Sabbath in verse 10 "to the Lord your God" is "for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them and rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it" in verse 11. Notice it clearly repeats the same as Creation, God "rested," "blessed," and "hallowed" the seventh day.

If the Saturday Sabbath is so important, then Jesus rose from the dead on the wrong day.

How do we know on which day of the week God started his work of creation. The measurement of time is a man made science, and it was man that gave names to the days and months. So in this man made time scale man has chosen one of the seven days to be the rest day. Happens to be a Sunday or Saturday - one named for the Sun and the other for Saturn.

The topic of the sabbath is an obsession for SDA's. I was once in a discussion with a SDA on a different Christian forum and all he mainly talked about was keeping the 10 commandments (with a heavy emphasis on the 4th commandment) as the basis or means of receiving eternal life. The "different" gospel that he was peddling culminated in "salvation by grace plus law, faith plus works." (Galatians 1:6-9)

He once made this statement to me below which clearly demonstrates my point:

The counterfeit Gospel is out there. What is the other Gospel? It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's Law (10 commandments) from the Cross. It is a Gospel that tries to separate God's 10 commandments from the plan of salvation. God’s Law has always been part of the true Gospel of Christ. The counterfeit Gospel does not have it. God's forever Law (the 10 commandments) is the foundation of both the Old and the New Covenant and the very foundation and basis of the true Gospel of Christ.

Speaking of obsession, Seventh-day Adventists teach that the near the end of time the "mark of the best" of Revelation 14 will be placed upon those who worship on Sunday instead of Saturday. o_O

Unbelievable! But obviously they do believe.

Don't they acknowledge what Jesus said,
Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

The Law of Moses clearly defines the Sabbath COMMANDS. Some 'Christians' promote the Sabbath but ignore the Sabbath commands.

Exodus 31:15 Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

I don't think we have enough body bags.

Because this is what will separate the saints from those who will be lost at the end, it has to be given so all may choose who they follow..

Revelation 14:12
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Revelation 22:14
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Nothing can seperate us from the love of God

Rev 14 is descriptive. not prescriptive,, If you want to get to God by following the law. You have to be perfect. Stumble in even the smallest part. Your guilty.

The Gospel of Grace, and Salvation Is "By Grace through faith" In Christ,
And In "His Death, Burial, and Resurrection, According To The Scriptures!"

Well the Bible tells us that some will choose what does separate them from the 'love of God'.
Revelation 14:8-10 King James Version
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.
9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,
10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Not Legalism but Christ

11 In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body [h]of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the [i]handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

Need to read them and see what will separate the wicked from God..
Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Ephesians 2

Brought Near by His Blood

11 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— 12 that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Christ Our Peace

14 For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

Christ Our Cornerstone

19 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

God's Church which is in Christ is not built on the Law of Moses or the 10 commandments given in the Law of Moses
The Sabbath day of rest abolished as this was a dividing commandment between Jew and Gentile, being part of their old covenant between Jews and God.

That includes ALL of the Law contained in commandments according to the law given through Moses, not just the sabbath,
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

Therefore, any church's doctrines that teaches contrary to Christ such as only sabbath keeping believers are saved and the rest take the mark of the beast for Sunday worship is anathema, CURSED, as it is a different gospel.

One new man made from Gentile and Jew

having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.

Romans 10:9 CLEARLY teaches us salvation is not in obeying the sabbath commandment, but in only found in Christ Jesus
"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

John 5:24 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Romans 10 fully exposes that being right with God is not found keeping the commandments of the Law of Moses found in the Old Covenant.

1 Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for [a]Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law, “The man who does those things shall live by them.” 6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) 7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Too bad the Lord never put this in the New Covenant and then the Lord led the Apostles at the counsel of Jerusalem in Acts 15 to not include Saturday sabbath as being a requirement for Christians.

If not for this the SDA peoples could fool so many more with their Saturday stuff
