But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. - Galatians 6:14.
How does a believer live in the world? through death. As far a functioning in this world it can only happen in death. We know know what happens to those that love this world, saved or unsaved. You cannot love this world and function in it as purposed. If gain in this world is your focus it may bring death but gain in this world is a false since of being. I made it so to say, I'm secure now I have made my mark and my ship has rolled in.
Living and being taken care of in the world is different, even being able to be a blessing to the work of God, but you cannot love the world and function in it the way it was purposed for believers to function in. Since the country I live in came under attack the world has tried to bring all religions together, and Christianity has been thrown in the mix by politics and ignorant people, some even in ministry. Trying to find a solution to world war. There will be none and our hope is this world will keep going one way or another as long as the Lord is using it for his purpose.
So what did Paul say concerning living in this world "the world is crucified unto me." He did not say the world was dead but he said he was dead to the world, crucified to the world. This is where you get the term "it don't matter" because Paul could see that he was dead to the world by the cross (always keep in mind that was you on that cross). He could see Jesus had come back to life after three days, there was nothing the world could do to him not even kill him.
We should have concerns in this world, we care in this world, we live in this world, we touch this world and make a difference somehow if possible, but we are dead to the world. The only life in this world you should have as a Christian is Christ. You should not have a church life, a work life, husband/wife life, or whatever kind of life you can think of. We have one life. Believers should listen to the Spirit and what he has to say to them because that is what he does he points to the only life there is, Christ in you the hope of glory. Glory!
