1 Samuel 13:14 KJV
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
Does this verse mean that David's heart was like God's? Or does it mean that while Saul was the kind of king the people would choose, David was the kind of king God would choose?

For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
The thing is . . . once upon a time, I remember reading a passage that indicated to me it was in the choosing, but I can't remember where that was.
