i came across a post in an atheist group, the motivational photo posted by a christian goes
"God isnt asking you to figure it out. Hes asking you to trust that he already has."
to which one ex-christian commented following
"Having grown up in a fundamentalist family this was my indoctrination; to quit figuring things out for my self and trust god. “Let go and let god” was the mantra. The trouble is that others in our society were busy honing the skill set of figuring things out, making decisions for the best outcome, and then accepting the responsibility for the decisions that they made. I was not. The result was to be hurled into adulthood with no real decision making experience and no decision making skills. This put me at a distinct disadvantage. I now liken this advice/demand to child abuse.
To clarify, it was often stated that to plan for the future was to trust in yourself and distrust god. To make plans was to assume the reins of your own life and thereby show your insubordination to almighty god who has planned your future and has your best interests in mind. Terrible advice. Just pathetic. Terrible - yet scriptural."
to me, we gotta do anything we can, and then we may put our trust in god to do what we cant- i honestly cant remember anything in the bible relating to this and im not sure how to even google for references on this as the results would be so vague
what do you guys think, to me it sounds like the family were just procrastinating from doing things on their own and instead wanted god to do their life for them?
