Jesus met Jairus in Mark 5:
Then came the breaking news:
Luke wrote about the same incident in Chapter 41:
Matthew didn't mention the father's name (Jairus), unlike Mark and Luke. Matthew only spent a few verses on the story compared to Mark and Luke's detailed accounts. He summarized "at the point of death" and "was dying" and skipped right to "has just died" by skipping the breaking news part. His summary caused some discrepancies in the three accounts.
While they were on their way to the dying child,22 Then came one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and seeing him, he fell at his feet 23and implored him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be made well and live.” 24 And he went with him.
And a great crowd followed him and thronged about him.
Jesus healed this woman.25 there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years.
Then came the breaking news:
Mark took several more verses to finish the story with a happy ending: Jesus raised her to life.35b there came from the ruler’s house some who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not fear, only believe.”
Luke wrote about the same incident in Chapter 41:
But then, when Matthew told it in 9:Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying.
Did Jairus talk to Jesus before or after his daughter died?18 While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came in and knelt before him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
