Yes, the Word of God is the greatest blessing you can bestow on a man. The reason is because the Word raises us up in our character & integrity, and when we are raised up higher in the things of God, Blessings flow in our life and our life is made easier.
Ungodly man does not understand this because they do not have the Spirit of God indwelling them. All they know is the ungodly way of living and they see(they walk by sight, they can't walk by faith) NO reward in receiving the Word of God. All they see is someone tapering with their evil desires and they hate those who bring the Word. That is how we know the spirit of a man.

Spiritual blessings are God's favor, postition, prosperity, healing/health, peace, joy, plenty to eat, nothing comes near their dwelling BUT!if it does under a testing of faith, it does not SHAKE THEM for their heart is steadfast trusting in the Lord and not in themselves or man and know that God will bring them out smelling like a rose in VICTORY!
When Jesus was sent into HIS wilderness as we all go through for our testing of the devil... BY THE SPIRIT, YES LED BY THE SPIRIT, he was perfect for he knew His Word which is our spiritual sWord/sword and instead of falling for the temptations, he fought in the Spirit by SAYING/whipping out his sWord: IT IS WRITTEN. Jesus did not have to do a thing but use that sWord in his mouth to defeat the devil and that is what we are supposed to be learing to do.
When the devil trys to tempt us with a dangling carrot or eye candy or ILL GOTTEN GAIN for our paying him homage OBEYING HIS words,IF we have equipped OURSELF with Christ, the Word, who is our sWord of the Spirit knowing what God's Word says and PROMISES for those who remain IN THE WORD and the Word in them, will WHIP OUT their spiritual sword and speak it for the spiritual world to hear, they WILL have the Victory over the enemy for God is our helper when we Stand immovable on His Word and do not let anything pull you away from the Rock of salvation the Stone that those of NO FAITH rejected and to their loss suffered throughout centuries without protection for God divorced their mother earthly Jerusalem and sold them into slavery to the ungodly nations.

{Please Don't take this as saying we are to hate the Jewish people, for we are NOT, we are to bring them out of the covenant of death and into the covenant of forgiveness of sin so that they can receive the Spirit of God TOO. We are indebt to them for our salvation.}

So the Word is the BLESSING of God and it must not only be read, but we must feed upon it daily and implant it in our hearts exchanging the ungodly words of the world led by the tormentor that bring forth bad fruit causing death and destruction, for the Word of God to bring forth godly fruit that leads all who hear and receive and speak and apply it to their life to life abundantly meaning all wholeness in every area of our lives.
Be blessed and feed upon the Bread of life, the Word of Life which is the Breakfast of champions who brings us out of the world that is suffering the effects of their actions and into the kingdom of God where heavenly things await us now and in the world to come.

Deut 30:15-20
15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
KJV

We are the promised seed being Jew and Gentile, if we obey the Voice(The Word) Christ of God to learn how to be a DOER of the Word and not just a hearer only. We are in covenant with God and since God never changes, His Will which is His Word, never changes. We have been brought into the commonwealth of Israel and we have the same promises, yet a better covenant, for we have been given the Spirit of God, being our helper to overcome the lusts of our flesh that keep us living sinful lives keeping us under the curses, where the Hebrew children did not have it to help them. They were strickly led of their flesh and as it is written, Flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God for we must be born again of the Spirit for the Spirit is the only one who can teach us on a higher level of life teaching us the deep things of God to become a New Creation in Christ Jesus.

Prov 18:20-21
20 A man's belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
KJV

Eph 1:3-4
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
KJV

Blessings

You may think that it is "off topic" for me to announce that 200million Christians in 60 countries are being persecuted for their faith.

When I read your post about how blessed we are from reading the Word, I couldn't help but think of them, these Christians who in many, many cases have no Bible especially those who are imprisoned.

To us the Scriptures are our daily bread, we need them just to make it through the day sometimes. To the persecuted I can only imagine that they have to hang on to the bits they have been able to memorise. It makes us realise how careless , self satisfied and unappreciative we are of what we have when many of us don't even pick it up on a daily basis.

Maybe you haven't heard of Soverienty of our God and that it is due to disobedience to Christ that men are put in positions to bring their flesh into submission. A perfect example of this are the 144,000 they are kept from harm and are called the HOLY ONES because they are blameless and have overcome the lusts of their flesh as they submitted themselves to be washed in and by the Word and God protects them.

Paul suffered much for Christ for he had in the past murdered much of the body of Christ and had a to overcome his flesh which he struggled with.

We are always going to have persecution from the Ungodly world who are anti-Christ, but as we die to our flesh man daily then eventually God makes us lay down in green pastures, leads His obedient beside cool STILL waters and restores our soul as we humble ourselves to HIS WORD.
The Bible tells us that when we step outside of Christ(outside the Word) that we shall be CHASTIESED for our own good.
I don't think that much of the church understands that until we bring our body into submission to Christ, you are going to look no better than the ungodly with the same miseries in life, indebt to others, diseased and spending all of retirementment money on health issues, drugs(sorcery) bringing them to poverty. These things are NOT of God's kingdom that brings Life and the only way to ever see your heaven within you manifest is by RECEIVING the Word of God into your heart to be a DOER not just a hearer. So when you say they do not even have Bibles, that tells me alot for those who are in perfect peace are doing the will of God. Again, it is only the ungodly that persecute us when we are walking IN THE WORD, NOT God who is Pleased when we are adhereing to His Word and taking it by faith.
God hands us over to the tormentors when we step outside of His Word(Christ)
We must pray for those who are sent out and are harmed for the Word, but do you remember why God's people were dispersed into the ungodly nations? Because THEY were in disobedience. We can only be responsible for our own actions to keep our vessel free from sin.... we are only required to TELL others and warn them.. but we can never control their soul THAT is between them and God!
Isa 26:3
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
KJV

Ps 55:22-23
22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.
KJV
Ps 37:29-31
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
KJV
Prov 2:7-11
7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
9 Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.
10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
KJV
Prov 10:21-22
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
KJV
Prov 15:28
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.
KJV

I enjoyed reading the original post! Very well said! And I am glad someone else has brought out the harsh reality of our persecuted brethern He need the word of God and we can help. VOM(Voice of the Martyrs) is a wonderful organization that goes that extra mile in danger to help our persecuted brethern.
