I know, that was a stretch, but here we are.

Did you miss your 'bus?

Barnabas = son of encouragement

Did you know that was his nickname, his given name was Joseph.

Joseph, a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas
(which means “son of encouragement”), - Acts 4:36 NIV

Anyway, don't miss the ENCOURAGEMENT bus.
I mean... it stops in front of your house EVERY day! - LOL

1) What can we do to be encouraging to one another?
2) How does this affect forum relationships?
3) What does it look like to be encouraging to our family members?
4) How can we encourage others at work?
5) What can we do to encourage the staff at our church?
6) How can we encourage complete strangers?
7) What can you do to encourage me? - LOL
(sorry, I wanted to have seven questions)

Acts 14:21-23 NIV
They preached the gospel in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch, 22 strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain true to the faith. “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,” they said. 23 Paul and Barnabas appointed elders[a] for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.

Acts 20:1-3 NIV
When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia.
2 He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece,
3 where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him just as he was about to sail for Syria,
he decided to go back through Macedonia.

Acts 27:34-37 NIV
Now I urge you to take some food. You need it to survive. Not one of you will lose a single hair from his head.”
35 After he said this, he took some bread and gave thanks to God in front of them all. Then he broke it and began to eat.
36 They were all encouraged and ate some food themselves.
37 Altogether there were 276 of us on board.

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—
12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

My saying in life has always been, your friends build you up, and your enemies tear you down. Pick the right friends. I been in groups where somebody is critical of others. If they do it to others they will talk behind your back too = enemy. All your friends should encourage you as well as you should to them.

I like to turn enemies into friends by encouraging them.

I've done that too. But it seems the evil intent is still there. Without Christ in them, they won't change.
We can suppose that there is a cause. Their behavior seems to be a cry for help.
Seems the Christian thing to do is to help them while they push everyone away.
They expect to be met with returned nastiness. When it doesn't come, they notice.
And they are more likely to act out when others are around. One on one is different.

Romans 12:6-8 NIV
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.
If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your[a] faith;
7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;
8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously;
if it is to lead,[b] do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

I case it wasn't obvious...
This means that encouragement is a spiritual gift.

1 Corinthians 12:31 NIV
Now eagerly desire the greater gifts.
