There is the belief among many Christian groups that God heals sick people on demand, as if God is a push button vending machine. They believe that as Jesus healed all those who came to Him they can do the same. The difference is that Jesus is God, and they ain't.

It is true that God heals the sick, but He is the One who decides, because He is sovereign. Also in James, the sick person is to call upon the elders of the church for the prayer of faith. There is no Scriptural support for "Healing Evangelists" conducting healing crusades. People like Benny Hinn and others like him claim to heal people, but although they can talk about it, no serious medical cases are actually healed.

in fact, people are healed through the sovereign grace of God. Peter and John did not have previous knowledge that the lame man at the Gate Beautiful was going to be healed. They probably passed by him day after day as they worshiped at the Temple. Then one day, Peter got the instant commission to heal the man. In fact, there is nothing in Acts where the Apostles knew who was going to be healed before them time. They did not have an automatic healing ministry. The Holy Spirit commissioned them right on the spot, as Paul telling a lame man to stand up on his feet.

Just because people trusted that they would be healed if Peter's shadow fell on them, doesn't mean they were actually healed. The Scripture doesn't say they were healed. It says that the people hoped for healing. There is a difference.

People like Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn have made millions of dollars through their "healing" ministries. But most of it was a hoax made up of false promises. It is an evil that rips off vulnerable sick people to give money they can't afford as "seed faith" with the promise of healing that never comes.

There is nothing wrong with a sick person asking God for healing, and the Scripture shows how to go about it - call for the elders of the church to pray the prayer of faith, and then to trust God for the outcome whatever it is.

I know this will be controversial for some, and it will be interesting to see how members respond.

Then one day, Peter got the instant commission to heal the man. In fact, there is nothing in Acts where the Apostles knew who was going to be healed before them time.
Precious friend, Peter had the commission of the "gospel of the kingdom" with the following:

Prophecy / Covenants / Law { earthly! }, the "kingdom gospel":

Jesus and the twelve "healed everyone":

"When the even was come, they brought unto Him many that
were possessed with devils: and He cast out the spirits with
His Word, and healed all that were sick"
(Matthew 4:24, 8:16, 15:30-31; Mark 2:3-4, 6:54-56 AV)
+
"Then He called His twelve disciples together, and gave them
power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And
He sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick...
And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the
[ kingdom ] gospel, and healing every where." (Luke 9:1-6 AV)
+
"There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto
Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with
unclean spirits: and they were healed every one." (Acts 5:16 AV)

Why?:

a) The nation of Israel is called, By God:
"And ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and an
holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak
unto the children of Israel." (Exodus 19:6 AV)

b) The first "Requirement * to be a priest unto God":
"No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the
priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD
made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh
to offer the bread of his God." (Leviticus 21:21 AV)

c) Thus all were healed in order to "meet God's first Requirement *
of no blemish for the priesthood."

Rightly Divided (2 Timothy 2:15 AV) From “Things That Differ!” (online):

Mystery / GRACE { Heavenly! }! Christ, to Paul, One apostle to the Gentiles:

Today, Under The "Gospel Of Grace, According To God's Perfect Will,"
Not all are healed. Why Not?: No priesthood 'calling', because "Israel fell",
but 'this' Is found in Romans - Philemon:

"And He {Christ} Said Unto me, My Grace Is Sufficient For
thee: For My Strength Is Made Perfect in weakness. Most
gladly therefore will I rather glory {cp} in my infirmities [ #link# ] ,
that The Power Of CHRIST May Rest Upon me!"
(2 Corinthians 12:9 cp 2 Corinthians 11:23-30 AV)

----------------------------------

*
Note: the Other Two Requirements for Israel's priesthood were
"water [ washing by John and the twelve ) baptism, and anointing
of oil [ Christ's Baptism with The Holy Spirit { at Pentecost } ]",
Neither of which are For us Today, As God, Under Grace, Now Has Only:

Amen.

We prayed for my young daughter just like this above .

The doctor said my daughter's only choice was surgery .

My daughter had a protruding hernia , after prayer the hernia was gone never to return .

Abdominal wall was restored .

If the doctor ever ran into us he would ask if he could see my daughters stomach , he had a hard time grasping what had taken place with the healing .

It very well appears that the Apostles had a unique calling, as the Apostles of Christ, to perform healing and miracles as an integral component of the Gospel they preached to the Jews and Gentiles. No doubt about it.

However, how come in our modern day, most of attempts to get people healed by the power of the Holy Spirit never gets past just talking about it? It appears that the Apostles had something that our current believers and healing ministries don't have.

I struggle with these. Faith Word movement. I don't believe it works like this. God has a plan and purpose for all the valleys we endure. Sadly it's not a matter of belief and proclamation. It's a matter of God's Will and timing. God has always moved sovereign over all details of our lives. God has mercy and grace. We can only surrender and accept that God has a plan and we aren't always revealed what the plan looks like from His vantage point [take Job for example]. We are only asked to trust and obey. He never promised an easy life but he did promise He will always be with us and be faithful. Paul had a thorn in his side and asked 3 times for it to be removed. Yet His grace is sufficient 2 Corinthians 12:9. I never ask why I am immobile in a hospital bed, dealing with complex medical conditions and so forth but that's not my concern. My only concern even during emergency surgery and being rushed to the hospital how I can bring Jesus to others. God has used every situation miraculously for His glory. Even if I was healed - my body is still going to deteriorate. Regardless. So why? I accepted this is my cross to bear and partake in the suffering of Christ. It gives an opportunity to be a comfort to others has God has been a comfort to me. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 I come from a place of surrender instead of a place of magic genie make my wish happen. God has perfect timing I know if He wants to, He will - but my ultimate healing is coming! Eternity and incorruptible bodies 1 Corinthians 15:42-54. God is the strength of my heart always Psalm 73:26
