This is one of the wisest posts of all time.

A great weight was lifted from me when a sermon stated this. It's a test of humility that most fail. We don't rely on book knowledge but faith and lived experience.

A great example that came to mind last night is the Sabbath. One verse says anyone who works should be put to death. Yet, Jesus worked on the Sabbath and justifies it and said he did not come to abolish the law.

Appeal to Emotion. Wanting something to be true does not make it true.

Seems this statement of yours reinforces IDOLATRY you have made of a manmade compilation of writings. Sure, the writings and the compilation may have been "inspired" but to invest "inerrancy" is unnecessary. Do you believe you are saved by a book, knowledge of the book or by God?

Truth is, we can trust a lot of things, including logic, people will let you down, not even the image in the mirror is perfect and right all the time, Trump won the 2020 election, Epstein did not kill himself, global warming is a fraud, oil is lighter than water, every day you are getting older, not younger, etc.

I think this is the crux of the matter.

Yes - this means that we all have to 'do the work' to determine the right interpretation. Or at least rely on some person to do it for us.

But I don't find that problematic. We all rely on the translators, and our own teachers and pastors anyway. How is this any different?

You want a flawed bible. keep it. As for me. I will rely that God said he gave us a love letter. and he will make sure it is not tainted to put doubt on him

Do you think that the gospels were isolate events in all four gospels? The synoptics are accounts of many exact events with narrative on different events.

Just because they are from different accounts means nothing, it is th e same event. Matthew shows the immediate withering of the leaves and probably branches while the Mark account shows the tree as totally dead! Same account same event, but different days and different results on each day.

But hey if you are intent on seeing contradictions, you can find some apparent ones and reject when one brings to light why they aren't.

Totally illogical. You flipped statistical probability from how you feel. Its not that your emotion makes it true, it’s that being a contradiction, one of the premises cannot (more than may not) be true.

I used to be old earth. I have rejected that idea since I resolved that I see in Gen 1: 2 and other areas which seem to counter it.. as my origional belief

I used to be confused about the difference between Romans 4 and James 2.. And when confronted with them, I had alot of doubt because I could not explain them
