And do you know what is interesting about this price point? It has always been, at least since 1994, the price I paid for my dream computers.
My first 4 Meg of RAM cost me $200!

You need to be careful about "i7" processors since there are now six (?) generations. I still have an older 1st gen i7 PC I built years ago (It's good enough to do HD video editing though).

I've never spent more than $700 on new computers since most rigs past $1,000 really start to age faster than their value. I guess it's like driving a new car off the lot and it losing $20,000 of retail value.

I'd have to agree with the $2,500 standard "dream machine" price though.

I have noticed that. They did they same thing with the Celeron processor for years.

Nowadays I use a Samsung Tab S with Android 5.0.2, and its all I need.
