MANY DUTCH PREPARE FOR 2012 APOCALYPSEJune 24, 2008UPI reports: “Thousands of people in the Netherlands say they expect the world to end in 2012, and many say they are taking precautions to prepare for the apocalypse. The Dutch-language de Volkskrant newspaper said it spoke to thousands of believers in the impending end of civilization, and while theories on the supposed catastrophe varied, most tied the 2012 date to the end of the Mayan calendar, Radio Netherlands reported Monday.De Volkskrant said many of those interviewed are stocking up on emergency supplies, including life rafts and other equipment. Some who spoke to the newspaper were optimistic about the end of civilization.‘You know, maybe it's really not that bad that the Netherlands will be destroyed,’ Petra Faile said. ‘I don't like it here anymore. Take immigration, for example. They keep letting people in. And then we have to build more houses, which makes the Netherlands even heavier. The country will sink even lower, which will make the flooding worse.’…”

Kriss:We often talk about the parable of the fig tree. Wasn't 2018 one of the predictions regarding the Second Coming? Now, I know you do not believe in the 7-year trib as I do ("seven-times punishment"), but 7 years before that will be 2011 or there abouts. There was also the other thread saying about the end of the Internet as we know it about then, too. Nothing like suppressing free communication of us peons so the beast can take over.Makes me wonder if this is not falling into place. I'm just so disgusted, but on the other hand, looking for that Glorious Day.

Yeah Im with you Tim there was no real prediction in the Parable of the fig tree only that before the last person born in 1948 passes awayA generation is either 40,70, or 120 years 1948 to 2018 is 70 years but it doesnt have to be on a Generation year fullfilment could be during it

By the way I do believe in the seven years I believe it will occur as written I just dont believe the actual tribulation time will last the full seven years but that it is shortened and will occur during or right after the seven years

In that case, I'll drink to that! But not too much with my stomach ulcer.

The History Channel last Sunday played a series called "doomsday" or something like that and it referred to the mayan calendar and tried to back up evidence that the end of this life would be 12-21-12

Oh my gosh this will be beat to death just like Y2K and nothing happened...
I don't want to derail this thread too much, but let me say something about Y2K. I think all that fear was that people, not computers, were not ready to accept Y2K. The computers, including mine, did just fine. However, did you notice how everything basically went downhill since then? Especially after 911.On the other hand, I remember as a kid watching science fiction movies taking place in year 2000 and fancy spacesuits. It was the epitome of the future. I was ready and looking forward to the new millennium. But somehow I think that people in general had a subconscious fear and block of the new millennium, as if to say, "I don't really belong here in the future." Then business started going downhill, people got laid off, the economy worsened, and I was inadvertently dragged down along with the rest. I started off happy, but the unhappy public mood surely changed that after awhile. It's hard to stay happy and cheerful (as my picture shows I usually am) in a society that is thinking the worst. In a nutshell, people just projected their fears onto computers. It's the people that crashed. I feel sorry for most.
