I do wonder sometimes what you all believe life is like in the U.K., what you think my experience is as a U.K. citizen. As a Christian I felt led to vote to come out of Europe - and I knew many others who equally felt that way.
The USA and England are connected. Maybe like brothers and sisters. Usually, the mood there is the same here and vice versa. The trends there mirrors here and there. Music for instance. My ancestors came from England, and I have a family Crest to prove it.

Just being on the outside, I see trends happening.

That’s interesting that you think that, yes we do class the USA as allies but I actually see many many differences within our cultures and attitudes. We have adopted many things from the US, but some of those things have created problems - like the whole attitude of suing people. It led to so many rules and restrictions because of fears of being taken to court. A friend went to visit the US and said that despite thinking we speak the same language, we don’t, our cultures are very different.
We are connected but I think its Like different strands of the same family, we do things differently
Music, yes totally agree there.
I think what I meant by what you see, it’s more from all the propaganda - yes there is always strands of truth, but how the picture looks is different, and that’s what I defend at times

Its the same there as here. It depends on where you go. If you go to Los Angelas, you won't see much in common, if you visit Massachusetts, you'll see a lot in common. If you visit the Florida, its different country.

And that is shown during every election. Democrats rule certain areas, while Republicans rule others.
Like regional powers. But it is never monolithic, republicans are making inroads into democratic ruled areas for cause, which is people want change for the better, and they don't see it coming from the LEFT.

If Trump succeeds well, then likely next president and congress will remain in republican control

Its only temporary and a publicity stunt. She has more notoriety in the USA and, as Dorothy said, there's no place like home.

Apparently Ellen had a toxic work environment on her show.

Several more counties in California went red, voting Trump.

The news said California might lose a few electoral votes due to people leaving California due to the high cost of living.

I am living in the U.K. so I am bound to be defensive if I consider a statement is wrong.
I respect your patriotism.

You have a lot to be proud of being British! Have you ever read The Rise And Fall of The British Empire? It is a wonderful tribute to the United Kingdom.

No I Have never read that , not sure I am proud of everything as we have done some awful things in our History. I equally don’t agree with everything that goes on here, but I do love being British xx

In no way does being proud of something mean one has to, defect, be proud of every aspect of it.

I'm proud of the principles upon which the republic of the US was established. Since then, we have often failed to live up to those ideals. There is now so much corruption, I've taken to actively correct the errors of my public servants, including the entrenched Deep State.

You should really consider reading the book. While it is one of the biggest books I ever read, it was very easy reading. It made me proud to know that America came from the British Empire and better understand our jurisprudence.

I might give it a try one day, I would probably buy it on my kindle as I tend to read when I am travelling on buses. I have brought my daughter a reading challenge for Christmas and I will suggest I do it with her, so pretty sure this book would come up in one of the challenges ( read a book about the history of something ) I will let you know if I do manage it xx
