At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me:

I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd,
whose own the sheep are not,
seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep,
and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them,
and scattereth the sheep.
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling,
and careth not for the sheep.

and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
As the Father knoweth me,

and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,
and as a root out of a dry ground:
he hath no form nor comeliness;
and when we shall see him,
there is no beauty that we should desire him.
He is despised and rejected of men;
a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;

The opening verse of Isaiah 53 shows something that is often forgotten, which is that the chapter in its context is really a complaint against unbelief...

@Mayflower I have been lately thinking about the sheer importance of brotherly love and patience; good verse to remember...
@Pathfinder7 Seems that the Psalms are inexhaustible... :)
@Mayflower Once remembered; never forgotten! shows the value of learning the Scriptures at an early age. (Often the first verse learned is John 3.16...)First verse I ever learned. VBS when I was a child
