I think I need one of those cones of shame dogs wear sometimes to help with this. I'm willing to do anything it takes to not get distracted. But the ability to say "no" is hard sometimes. Drifting is easy. Have to catch it at the beginning and this is when discretion/discernment is needed.
@Mayflower That verse in Proverbs 4 quoted by @runningwings is very similar to Psalm 16.8: "I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." (This is also one of @Pearl's favorite verses, occurring in her header.) :)

Yes indeed, "the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." It is an ongoing battle, but let us give thanks to the Lord for these challenges, for edifications' sake!

"...And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner!' I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."

(Luke 18:13-14)

"...But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"–He said to the paralytic, "I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." Immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went out in the presence of them all, so that all were amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"

(Mark 2:10-12)
