Here Is a scripture that I have not heard a great explination from by those who believe in the eternal security of a believer in Christ. The Word of God here is very plain here, but somehow people manage to twist it until it's true meaning is totally lost.
Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Heb 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
Heb 6:8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.
Being once enlightened does not mean "being once saved" Many people are enlightened to the truth as to Who Jesus Christ really is, but still they reject it.
Heb 12:15Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
Heb 12:16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
Heb 12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
Falling from Grace (aka foolish Galatians etc) is not losing ones salvation. When we start to believe, like you, that any form of works contributes in any way to our salvation, we have immediately "fallen from Grace", again, like you.
heb 12:17. Speaks of a person who did not repent, not a saved person.
Mathew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.
This refers to post tribulation saints in a different dispensation. We are currently in the dispensation of grace. This will not last forever, tribulation saints must endure to the end, possibly 3 and half years, maybe seven at most.
Here is Peter's take-
2Pe 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2Pe 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Again, here we are not seeing a saved a person. Having knowledge of the Lord and saviour is not the same as being saved by that knowledge. You demonstrate that in your mocking and condescending tone towards of the 2000 year old +, doctrine of salvation. (see The Doctrine of Salvation thread for scriptures)
