"...I Commend My Spirit"

Precious friends, for your Edification and Encouragement In Christ:

"Jesus...Cried With A Loud Voice"

“And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said, Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit: and having
said thus, He gave up the ghost” (Luke 23:46). On the cross, the Lord “cried with a loud voice” when He said,
“It is finished” (John 19:30). The work of redemption was complete. The penalty for sin was paid in full.

The Greek words for “loud voice” are megas and phone. These two Greek words together give us our
English word megaphone. Like a megaphone, the Lord’s words, “It is finished,” were loud, clearly heard,
and traveled for a distance, even throughout time and into eternity.

“It is finished” was a cry of completion and ultimate victory. The same combination of megas and phone is used in
Revelation to refer to the praise from the thousands upon thousands of angels who worship the Lord around the throne
in heaven (Rev. 5:11), “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and
wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing” (v. 12). For what Christ did for us in paying our sin debt in
full, He is worthy to be worshipped with a loud voice of praise throughout eternity..." (K Sadler)

Though he was in the form of God,
Jesus did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped.

He emptied himself,
taking the form of a servant,
being born in the likeness of men.

And being found in human form,
he humbled himself and became obedient unto death,
even death on a cross.

Therefore God has highly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name which is above every name,

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

And every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
