And Jesus did all this NOT as the SON OF GOD, but as a man who yielded his heritage to walk among THEIR creation, suffering every infirmity we have, and bearing our sins for us, so that we might have our relationship with the FATHER restored both in our lives and in eternity. What LOVE, what COMPASSION, and what MERCY ...

BJ
He is both Son of God (John 1.1; John 1.14; 1 Timothy 3.16; Hebrews 1.1-9, etc.) and Son of man (a glorious title in the Gospels).

OF COURSE HE was the SON OF GOD, but HE laid down his GOD NATURE to become a man (Philippians 2:6), so ALL that he did, we can do and even "greater works" (John 14:12), because HE became like us and walked among us.

What a compelling example and exhortation! :)

He never ceased to be God; the Hebrews 1 passage referred to is most glorious; it's a revealed mystery.

This verse is hardly a denial of the miracles.

He was 'declared to be the Son of God with power' (Romans 1.4).

And WE are given the SAME "power" through Jesus! Don't you have this "power"?

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do ...
2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

I am not convinced that you accept the unambiguous and glorious Deity of Christ, Sir, of which there is so much Scriptural evidence, unless I have misunderstood you.

The Deity of Christ is a truly glorious truth:

"1. Thou art the everlasting Word,
The Father’s only Son;
God manifestly seen and heard,
And Heav’n’s belovèd one:

Refrain
Worthy, O Lamb of God, art Thou
That every knee to Thee should bow.

2. In Thee most perfectly expressed
The Father’s glories shine;
Of the full deity possessed,
Eternally divine: [Refrain]

3. True image of the Infinite,
Whose essence is concealed;
Brightness of uncreated light;
The heart of God revealed: [Refrain]

4. But the high mysteries of Thy name
An angel’s grasp transcend;
The Father only—glorious claim!—
The Son can comprehend: [Refrain]

5. Throughout the universe of bliss,
The center Thou, and sun;
Th’eternal theme of praise of this,
To Heav’n’s belovèd one: [Refrain]"

Josiah Conder.

I think I FULLY understand WHO Jesus is, and WHAT HE did, but I also understand HIS role in coming down to earth and living among us. -- I believe the Semetaries teach the clergy stuff that's not correct, as they in turn taught me, but then I had to find the TRUTH of the matter. And it turns out that John 14:12 stands. No more, no less.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do ...

And so we can boldly move mountains in Jesus' name ... :)

I do wish to lean firmly on the fact that His glory is 'as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth' (John 1.14).

@Naomi25 Thread, FYI...
Are we talking old school hymns here? I think these would be two of my all time favorites!

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art

High King of Heaven, my victory won
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun
Heart of my own heart, whate’er befall
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all

And Can It Be

And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior's blood?
Died He for me, who caused His pain—
For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

'Tis mystery all: th'Immortal dies:
Who can explore His strange design?
In vain the firstborn seraph tries
To sound the depths of love divine.

'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,
Let angel minds inquire no more.
'Tis mercy all! Let earth adore;
Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father's throne above
So free, so infinite His grace—
Emptied Himself of all but love,
And bled for Adam's helpless race:

'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!
'Tis mercy all, immense and free,
For O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature's night;
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray—
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;

My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.
My chains fell off, my heart was free,
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

Still the small inward voice I hear,
That whispers all my sins forgiven;
Still the atoning blood is near,
That quenched the wrath of hostile Heaven.

I feel the life His wounds impart;
I feel the Savior in my heart.
I feel the life His wounds impart;
I feel the Savior in my heart.

No condemnation now I dread;
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;
Alive in Him, my living Head,
And clothed in righteousness divine,

Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.
Bold I approach th'eternal throne,
And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

PS: @Naomi25 : I think hymn singing in the home can be really good, not only for personal edification, but for family members to get to know Biblical lyrics.

Verse 1:
O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Chorus:
Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!

Verse 2:
When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Chorus

Verse 3:
And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Chorus

Verse 4:
When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then shall I bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim, "My God, how great Thou art!"

Chorus

Great hymn there! thanks!

I went to a funeral and they sang this hymn, but missed out this verse:

"And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin."

(Probably the best verse of the hymn!)
