What are some of your favorite movies?

I’ll start with:

Can't say I have a favorite movie.

I saw both of those.
The Big Country was especially good!

I watch Grit TV (old Westerns) and the old movies network. They mainly have the really great actors from the past. Anything with Gregory Peck, Glenn Ford, John Wayne, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Richard Widmark is bound to be good.

I also like true stories a lot.

My top 5 in no particular order.

The Twilight Samurai
Master and Commander
Brother Sun Sister Moon
Lawrence of Arabia
The Ten Commandments

I should probably ad the update version of The Ten Commandments to my list but I forget the name.

And another bonus flick
Noah

I really enjoyed both of these biblical movies, but I know they weren't popular with many Christians.

Didn't really care for the movie, but I absolutely love the sound track.

If a movie is made after 1990, there’s a very good chance that I haven’t seen it.

Do you think we can learn something, anything, about people from the movies they consider favorites?

Yes, but not much. I would say we could learn a lot more by how much time is spent on entertainment generally, versus more profitable endeavours.

I worked for three decades in a job which at times required me to investigate crimes and suspected crimes. You’d be surprised how much insight I gained from asking people about their favorite books, movies, hobbies, food, etc. There are a lot of factors that go into constructing a profile.

No, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, not for a very long time, decades. Even when I did, I loathed horror movies. And I've found that I don't gel well with those who do. Over the years I've become less and less attached to people, even Christians, who are constantly emersed in some form of entertainment, and that includes what mist would call church these days. I simply can't relate to the world or those who love the world. Its a lonely place, but its right where I need to be.

BTW. I forgot to list Dr. Strangelove, an all time favorite for me.

That's interesting. I thought you were a pastor...but of course, you can work a secular job and be a pastor as well. Did you work for the police lab or what?
