I believe my husband and I are under spiritual attack. We've been making good progress together in pleasing God and obeying Him from the heart. And God has blessed us. But lately we've been dealing with

--- spiritual attacks on the unity of the household
---increased temptations of various kinds, like temptation to misunderstand or take offense
---temptation to be stressed and complain despite obvious blessings

It's a bit hard to explain. It's like we've gotten to this really good place in following God and now there's pruning and exposed weaknesses to get through.

Please pray that we'll stand firm in the faith and learn to war in the spirit for our family.

Sometimes events like this aren't attacks in the classic sense. They can also be elements of the refiner's fire that brings dross and impurities to the surface. We sometimes need pressure to squeeze out what is deep within us so we can be further purified. The branch that bears fruit undergoes pruning, not fun, but needed to bear more fruit.

I'm sure God is in charge of what is happening. I think He can control what the enemy can and can't do. And I agree it might not be the enemy at all.

1 Corinthians 10:13 EMTV

13) No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not permit you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation, He will also make the way out, so as for you to be able to bear it.

Temptation, and tempted, are from peirasmos, which refers to both testing and tempting. Consider, a contrary circumstance occurs, say a misunderstanding over something important. You have the opportunity to respond with trust in God, or to respond from the flesh. Trust in God, you remain peaceable, seeking unity. Respond from flesh, anger flares, violation, like that.

The peiramos - tempt/test - happens, and either you pass the test, or it tempted you into sin.

In the verse above, the place where it says "He will make the way out", the Greek uses a term "the way out" that was used to refer to a safe harbor for a ship. "The" way out, shows this is a singular destination, a certain place.

So what does all this mean?

When a contrary circumstance strikes, whether family issues, illness, financial hardship, crime, whatever it is, this is a situation ordained by God to happen to you, so that you will end up at the desired place. No matter what it is, God has in mind that everything in your life will work together for your good.

If we cooperate, we'll get there faster.

Much love!
