God our creator, knows more about us than we can even imagine, therefore when His Word tells us about ourselves, we can believe it.

In Matthew, God describes the 4 kinds of hearts, that every human being has.......
Matthew 13:3-9
V.3 And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
V.4 And when he sowed, some [seeds] fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
V.5 Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth:
V.6 And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
V.7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
V.8 But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
V.9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Now, the reason God spends so much time on telling us about our heart, is because our heart’s condition, determines how we will react to Him and his Word.

Also, God almost universally compares our heart, to soil;
(Because seeds are planted in soil and God’s Word is referred to as a seed.)
------------------------
The first kind of heart God describes, is “a hard heart” (by the way side/The walk way.)
(This soil is hard because it is waked on, but hearts get hard by rejecting God’s truth.)

When this kind of heart hears the Word of God, it just sits there.
(And Satan’s distractions cause us to forget about what we heard.)
See Matthew 13:19
------------------------
The next heart God describes, is “the shallow heart”: (On stony ground.)
(Because this soil is shallow, the seed can not take root, so it fades away.)

When this kind of person hears the Word of God, they seem to quickly accept it, but because they are shallow, they soon give up the faith.
See Matthew 13:20-21
------------------------
The next heart God describes, is “the crowded heart”: (Soil filled with weeds.)
(The weeds in this soil, choke out the seed and it doesn’t grow.)

These kinds of people, are those who have so much going on in their life, that they just don’t seem to have any time for the Lord or His Word.
See Matthew 13:22
------------------------
The fourth kind of soil God describes, is “the good ground”: (Soft, open, soil.)
(When the seed of God’s Word lands on this soil, it sinks down deep into it and takes deep root and brings forth fruit.)

These kinds of people, hear God’s Word and believe it and their lives are changed by it.)
See Matthew 13:23
--------------------------------------------------
It’s a good practice for each of us, to regularly examine our own hearts and lives, to see what kind of soil we are.
