If I want you to listen to me or read what I am writing, what is a great way to do that? Over the years, I've done a ton of radio commercials and some TV voice overs. When I do, I always insist on creative freedom to make changes in the wording as I see fit with the point being I want the listener to pay attention to what I am saying. You do that right at the start of the commercial. Right now as I write, I have a Book opened which shows that concept was used by that One God who designed and built all of us, including those who think they are here only because of the actions of lovesick amoeba. Yes, there is a message here and yes that God who wrote this Book got the attention of millions over the years with a mysterious event which, although is interesting, is an "ARROW" which points directly to a great concept which you, me and every person on this earth can use!!! Genesis 5:21..."And Enoch lived 65 years and begat Methuselah." Verse 22: "And Enoch walked with God AFTER he begat Methuselah....". Then verse 24 the mystery verse: "And Enoch walked with God; and he was not; for God took him". What do we remember about Enoch? Almost in lockstep everyone will say, including non-believers, "He was the person who didn't die. He went somewhere and we don't know where! That is spooky...that is a great mystery." Many think he immediately went to Heaven while still physically alive. (That is another matter which perhaps we should cover one of these days!) Is it possible God created this "mystery" to point like an ARROW to the word "AFTER"??? QUESTION: What does that verse mean? ANSWER: Enoch wasn't always a righteous man! The birth of Methuselah was the MOTIVATION to CHANGE that!!!! For 65 years, Enoch did not live a Godly life! If that was not true, God would not have said "after". Do you see the significance there? Something happened in Enoch's life which caused him to CHANGE the way he was living!!! Do you know somebody who also needs that "change" and maybe that "somebody" is you? Guess what? It looks like all those stupid, immature cliches people use like: "A leopard can't change his spots"; "Once a cheat, always a cheat", "Once a drunk, always a drunk", "I'm too old to learn"; "Once a druggie, always a druggie" are just NOT true!!!! The Bible is FULL of inspiration regarding how people can become a better person in the eyes of God and that includes the writer of this message! Check out: Col. 3:9-10, Eph. 6:16 or Phil. 4:13! Change is NOT easy but you and I have an open line to the most important Person ever to ask for help and send others into our lives to help us! Every pastor out there knows this is true! How about you? A pastor looks out over the congregation and sees the faces of those who made those changes. Its just a matter of that person taking the step. There's no mystery about Enoch. He made a change after 65 long years of walking thru darkness. Why not be just like him? Someone is ready and willing to help you and He just needs to know you want His help!!!
