Soldiers missing are a Giants dinner. Fits the stories handed down through time.
OT giants were feared, likely worshipped and ruled the pre flood world.
Greek Titans were giants. Olympic gods. Hercules. All those myths may have been an actual physical giant being in ancient times.

Giant myths exist from all over the earth in diverse cultures.

The soldiers had cameras then and would have taken pictures. So, no pictures and it didn't happen.
I'm thinking there may be something to the story, but I'm not totally convinced either. And I strongly disagree with the idea of Nephylim.

Deuteronomy 3 tells us of the giant king OG

1 “Then we turned and went up the road to Bashan; and Og king of Bashan came out against us, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei. 2 And the Lord said to me, ‘Do not fear him, for I have delivered him and all his people and his land into your hand; you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon.’

3 “So the Lord our God also delivered into our hands Og king of Bashan, with all his people, and we [a]attacked him until he had no survivors remaining. 4 And we took all his cities at that time; there was not a city which we did not take from them: sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan. 5 All these cities were fortified with high walls, gates, and bars, besides a great many rural towns. 6 And we utterly destroyed them, as we did to Sihon king of Heshbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city. 7 But all the livestock and the spoil of the cities we took as booty for ourselves.

8 “And at that time we took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites who were on this side of the Jordan, from the River Arnon to Mount Hermon 9 (the Sidonians call Hermon Sirion, and the Amorites call it Senir), 10 all the cities of the plain, all Gilead, and all Bashan, as far as Salcah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

11 “For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of the [b]giants. Indeed his bedstead was an iron bedstead. (Is it not in Rabbah of the people of Ammon?) Nine cubits is its length and four cubits its width, according to the standard cubit.

Giants is a term used to describe men of great renown. It doesn't necessarily mean large person.

Genesis 6:4-5 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Nine cubits is its length. Og's bed was about 14 feet long

My friend who served in Afghanistan was told about this or something similar by a spec ops solder he met over there. Anyone else concerned with what our government could do with a Nepahlim's dead body?

Amos 2, God tells us a relative size and strength of the giants.

9 “Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them,
Whose height was like the height of the cedars,
And he was as strong as the oaks;

Yet I destroyed his fruit above
And his roots beneath.
10 Also it was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt,
And led you forty years through the wilderness,
To possess the land of the Amorite.

And those descriptions are all the post flood giants, not the preflood giants who could have been much greater in every way. They also corrupted the earth as a satanic plot to try to prevent the genesis 3 prophecy fulfillment.

If they had one, they would never tell us.

I wouldn't want my DNA mucked with, lest I become a literal son of the devil. It may provide temporary benefits and perhaps increased lifespan. However like the Nepahlim we could still die. Then we would be unable to die fully, wondering arid places like the demons.

Well giants sure is an interesting topic. But the real question I have is why haven't they found any skeletons?
Either they did and won't share that as it goes against what they teach, or, most were completely destroyed in the flood of Noah along with maybe billions of regular people, ground up dissolved.
Another possibility, God sent his angels to gather them up bodily and cast them into hell. In Amos it does say God destroyed them to their roots, might mean not going to find any traces left.

"Yet I destroyed his fruit above
And his roots beneath."

The origins of the demons is they are the unclean spirits of the dead giants God killed in the flood. And they were allowed to roam the world as the powers of the air. And they have Satan as their leader. A fallen angel is not a demon.

They seek to possess another body, as theirs God destroyed, and they are uncomfortable outside of a body. Besides that they were used to being in body and don't like not having one.

An Unclean Spirit Returns

43 “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none. 44 Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came. And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order. 45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”

Question is, what happened to the fallen angels? And if they are in hell awaiting the judgement of the Great Day, who are these unclean spirits left free to roam over the world?
And we do read in Revelation that God frees fallen angels from Hell in His judging of the world.

Jude
5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

6 And the angels who did not keep their [c]proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the [d]vengeance of eternal fire.

=======================================

Now it could likely be those angels who sinned are the ones who sinned with human women who birthed the Nephilim, so only they are the ones God locked in 'EVERLASTING CHAINS' at the time of the great flood, as a subset of all the fallen angels. Jude is comparing the sin of these fallen angels to that of the sexual immorality sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, meaning those angels committed sexual immorality.

Yes, that is my thought. Satan was not bound by chains because he didn't commit this particular sin.
