A Cushite is an Ethiopian ~ Moses marries a black African woman.

Numbers 12

12 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.
3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)
4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:

“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions,
I speak to them in dreams.
7 But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.
8 With him I speak face to face,
clearly and not in riddles;
he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”

9 The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them.
10 When the cloud lifted from above the tent, Miriam’s skin was leprous—it became as white as snow. Aaron turned toward her and saw that she had a defiling skin disease, 11 and he said to Moses, “Please, my lord, I ask you not to hold against us the sin we have so foolishly committed. 12 Do not let her be like a stillborn infant coming from its mother’s womb with its flesh half eaten away.”
13 So Moses cried out to the Lord, “Please, God, heal her!”
14 The Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days; after that she can be brought back.” 15 So Miriam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on till she was brought back.

This proves God takes no offence to interracial marriage. But opposition to interracial marriage is only one manifestation of racism.

There are differences between the races and that is a known fact. These are not necessarily good or bad differences. However for even pointing out the truth some will label you a racist.

Technically that is not racism as it is prejudice based on ethnic differences.

God is prejudiced based on moral differences; as even that passage reveals.

Interesting thoughts lforrest. Perhaps I am a racist for pointing out the fact that God is not one :) or maybe Miriam and Aaron had reason to be angry at Moses for marrying a Cushite. God bypassed that entirely and concentrated on the fact that they spoke harshly against his servant Moses....but my thoughts while posting this, was focused on the news reports of the killings that were happening in your country between black people and the Police...

kerwin ~ When googling to "define racism", search came up with ~ prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

Looking around I see all sorts of definitions. Some supposing hatred, others dehumanization, then one's own races superiority, and another supposing any races superiority.

I think I'll go with the most common definition... anyone who disagrees with me is a racist.

I'm sure that what you are saying is true lforrest but I was referring to this particular chapter in relationship to God, the situation that occurred with Moses, Miriam and Aaron and how God handled that. Perhaps I should have included other areas of racism but that would have defeated the purpose of the O/P. Let me just say brother, that I hate racism as much as I hate abortion and so many other despicable crimes against other human beings. You can call me a racist for that... ;)

Blessings to you and Peace from God!

God can not be prejudice because he knows everything about a person and can judge them properly based on what they do.

The difference between a biblical Cushite and a Israelite is not race but rather ethnicity. The correct word in those situations is ethnicism though people do use racism because they do not know the correct term. I think racism is a recent invention and do probably is the related to scientist deciding to create a metric called race. I do know the first mention of the white race in a government doctrine is in a 17th century amendment to a North American colony Maryland law that penalized "white" woman for marrying slaves, Previously, it had been free-born woman.

Both ethnicism and racism are both specific forms of chauvinism aspect of tribalism.

The differences are called genetics and it is why my bloodline is different than the next. My family is prone to kidney disease while others are not.

There are also cultural effects in those areas that people of one race have a different dominate culture than those of another. Minority cultures within a race are outweighed by that of the majority culture.
