It is written:
Luke 6:38
38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
KJV
Humm, let's see. Do you consider yourself a bargain hunter? Do you seek coupons for discounts? Do you seek out the sale table?
These may SEEM good to us and I too fall short in some of these areas for I am not perfected(yet) by a long shot!
But if we read what The Word says about receiving according to the same measure(generously or tightwad) that we give, then are we cheating ourselves of God's blessings by trying to get what is in the seller's hand for as little as possible so that we get to keep most of our money, but get what he has that we want, for so little that he can't even feed his family?
Is this what we want others to do to us? Because we reap what so ever we sow! And isn't this showing how little we trust God to prosper us by taking Him at His Word of promise and STEPPING out in FAITH that if we give generously, we get back generously from men. God loves a cheerful giver, because that person is proving to God that he does not worship his money and is not afraid to let go of it so that another can have their needs met, trusting that God is able to provide them with more as they learn how to NOT put their trust in their possessions, but in the One who made all things.
Want to prosper God's way.. then give in what ever manner that means rather free or generously and see if God is True to His Word. For faith without works(stepping out on His promises) is dead.
2 Cor 9:5-13
5 Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
9(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
13 Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
