Survey: Americans More Active In Religious LifePOSTED: 11:56 am CDT September 11, 2006A new survey suggests Americans are more engaged in religious life than previously thought.Researchers at the country's largest Baptist University said only about one in 10 Americans have no ties to a faith group. And they said many others without ties to specific congregations still believe in God or a higher power. The survey conducted by Baylor University said earlier studies had put the unaffiliated number at about 14 percent. And the researchers said earlier research failed to account for millions of evangelicals who might have called themselves nondenominational and been listed as unaffiliated. The study, incidentally, finds those more traditional Christians would prefer to be known as "Bible-believing" or "born again."
