Rachel Adelman, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of Hebrew Bible at Hebrew College in Boston.
She has published an article called "Jacob's Vision at Bel El and the Foundation Stone of the World" in this article she points out that the mount where the Tower of Babel was built, where Abraham took Issac to be sacrificed, the place that Jacob had his vision and the place the temple in Jerusalem was built were all the same and was in fact known as "the house of the foundation of heaven and earth".
Being known as heaven and earth is important because Jesus said in Matthew that the temple would be destroyed and when the disciples heard him say that, they asked in Matthew 24.3 this question "when shall these things be? and what will be the sign of thy coming and the end of the world?". So when Jesus explained all the things that would come to pass in their generation, they understood what Jesus meant when he said in 24.35 "heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away". The coming of Jesus in judgement and the end of the world would come when the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed,
Heaven and earth, the temple in Jerusalem, did pass away in 70 AD, in the disciples generation, just as Jesus had said.
