Hello.

I am a relatively new Christian with a passion for using music to exhalt God, both in my prayers and my general worship. I love singing to God; I think Hymns are beautiful.

I hope to find a good group of people to talk about Christ with. I find the world we live in a generally hostile environment toward us, and thought provoking Christian discussion seems to be a rarity.

I am a very private worshipper and do not at the moment belong to any denomination or church in my community. This is my outreach to brothers and sisters.


Also I hope if I can manage to figure out how to post to my blog, document the things I am learning and the experiences I am having as a new Christian who was not raised in the faith at all, both as a point of reflection for myself and perhaps as a point of encouragement to someone with a similar background.

Hello and welcome HymnSeeker, I'm a new christian myself, and also new to this forum. You are right about the world being generally hostile to Christians and it's deplorable for certain and seems to grow worse each day. I suppose we can take comfort, tho, in that it's fulfillment of prophecy. Jesus said the world will hate us because of Him.

Welcome to Christianity Board! What would you say are your top 3 hymns?

This little light of mine, Amazing Grace, and Down in the River are my three favorites, but I'm sure they're popular with everyone.

Those are pretty stock and standard yes, but then there's a reason for that!

I'ma bit partial to Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing and Here I Am Lord. I appreciate the theology generally contained within the hymns. I listen/worship to both contemporary music and traditional hymns, but often find myself with greater appreciation for the latter for this reason. It's nice to see a bit of a trend of some writing hymns again.
