Jesus speaking to the multitude,

Mat 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Mat 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
Mat 13:26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
Mat 13:27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
Mat 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
Mat 13:29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
The good seed is gathered, but stay here on earth.

Jesus gave the parable and now he will explain it to his disciples. I will try to re-enforce what is said.

Mat 13:37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
The son of man is Jesus.
Mat 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
Good seed are believers.
Mat 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are the angels.
Enemy is the devil and the reapers are the angles and the harvest is the end of the age. The fact that the reapers are the angles means it is a spiritual happening.
Mat 13:40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this age.
The tares (wicked} are gathered up and burned.
Mat 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Again the angles will gather all things that offend, those that have professed to be Christians but have not been obedient. Read Rom 1:18-32
Mat 13:42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
There will be great pains.
Mat 13:43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Then those that remain, good seed, shall shine in the kingdom of God.

Even if this prophecy parable pertained to you and me, we would not be taken. The wicked are the ones taken. We would be gathered into the barn. The fact is, this does not pertain to you and me. It was directed the the Jews and the early churches. This is because the end of the age would happen when the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed.
Mat 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
Mat 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Jesus said the temple will be destroyed.
Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the age?
The disciples immediately ask when the end of the age would come, for they knew that the temple being destroyed would mean that.

The temple was destroyed in 70 AD, still in the disciples generation.

Let us live a good life for God and forget about the need for Jesus to come in judgement again.
Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the age hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
