The nature being a homemaker is that there is always more that can be done. What energizes me is taking time to give myself credit for what did get done and not always measuring myself against what did not get done.
It can be easy to be so caught up in the practical dimension of homemaking that we miss blind spots in the spiritual dimension.
The practical needs include chores, cooking, cleaning, and upkeep tasks. But the spiritual dimension involves your presence, whether you are stressed or rested, peaceful or burdened, calm, or irritable.
When I say attend to the spiritual dimension, I don't necessarily mean devotional study time. I mean taking time to do things that simply rejuvenate you---a fictional book, a creative hobby, video games, gardening, etc. Things that refresh your spirit so you can refresh the atmosphere of your home with joy.

You need both a Mary like heart of rest in the Lord and worship and a Martha like heart of service to get the most out of home as ministry.
