OK, got it!

I hope you find a good church!

Much love!
Dunno about you. But someplace where biblical interpretations, views, testimonies, witnessings, convictions, amid various doctrines can be "cussed and discussed", sounds a lot like what I think "church" SHOULD be like.

If I am not confident, I do not have faith. If I do not have faith., I am not saved.

It's more the opposite. I have faith my car is where I left it this morning. Going out to the parking lot, I see my car there, which replaces my faith with knowledge I'm confident in.

is our confidence in God or in self?
Another one who confuses faith with confidence. One can be confident in what they know. Applying "confidence" to what you don't know is psychologically dangerous.

Our faith is in God and our confidence is what we know about him. I'm confident God has the power to save. As it pertains to any one individual - including myself - humility prevents making proclamations AS IF I know.

My friend. the definition of faith is one who has faith is confident or assured

Romans 4: 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

in Gen 12. Abraham believed, But he was not yet confident. In Gen 15. He was not only convinced. he was confident God could do what God promised

it was the reason he was saved in Gen 15 not Gen 12..

I am confident he saved me. As he promised he would do, 50 some years ago.

I like our more structured church, where the Sunday services are about corporate worship and teaching. But the Wednesday fellowship dinners are more about fellowship and prayer, and teaching also. We have a number of various choices of gatherings and activities.

Small group home fellowships are wonderful for more relaxed discussion oriented Bible Study. I love all of it!

I agree with you . . . church isn't a "spectator sport"!

Much love!

three are eternal!

faith hope and charity 1 cor 13:13
Look more carefully what it says:

1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

This is not a declaration that faith and hope are eternal. When we see what we've hoped for, our hope is done, we have that which was promised.

Keep in mind:

Romans 8:24-25 KJV
24) For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25) But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

Hope is there until we see Him, then our hope is fulfilled.

Much love!

Yes, @faithhopecharity, and that "one church" is the invisible church scattered throughout all Christian groups that profess Christ.
St. Ignatius apostolic father (taught by the apostles) said: "where there is no consecrated bishop there is no church"!

the local bishop has governance of the church and scripture, a
teaches & sanctifies the people in the sacraments by command of Christ! mt 28:19

thks

Titus 2:11-12 KJV
11) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Context.

Jesus did not teach that everyone is called.
Those who are called are those to whom those verses regarding faith and the believer apply.

If everyone were predestined, there wouldn't be a book containing the names of those God intended for his grace before the world was created.

But the Wednesday fellowship dinners are more about fellowship and prayer, and teaching also. We have a number of various choices of gatherings and activities.
There ARE (how can I say) "situations or scenarios" in these "church settings" so to speak, "where and when" volunteers who "set up, host and tear down these church activities? Which are quite pleasant btw, to a newcomer to these "events" so to speak.
Yet? Over time? One starts noticing and asking questions concerning: "Why are the SAME people ALWAYS doing this?" "Why isn't anyone else volunteering?"
And? I can give you an answer to this! As I was 1 of several of these "volunteers" that were ALWAYS setting up for these events, and ALWAYS 1 of several of these SAME volunteers that tore down these events.
BY FAR the biggest reason is: Peoples LACK OF RESPECT FOR "CHURCH PROPERTY!"
As "some" people just don't care about something that isn't THEIRS! THIS? Costs money to replace! Yanno?
Another "item" of contention, is that old saying: "A PLACE for EVERYTHING!" "And EVERYTHING, IN ITS PLACE!"
Meaning? People for a larger rather than smaller part? Don't CARE where they put stuff when "events" are finished. So when the NEXT event is to be held? Ya have everyone and their brother LOOKING for components for the event and just "WHERE THE HECK DID THEY PUT it/THEM?"

Anyway? I think you get the idea. It's called "Getting burnt out!"
The last church I attended I was one of those "volunteers!" And? After 4 YEARS of going back and forth to church 7 days a week?
Takes a toll on a guy yanno?

Just wondering here if You've encountered anything like this? :contemplate:

I agree. Our friend @marks has a unique theology.

Look more carefully what it says:

1 Corinthians 13:13 KJV
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Are you playing is? Everyone knows the live chapter, the greatest is love.

Ironic that you bash others for not reading closely enough.

Putting that aside, what point iud your unique theology trying to make here regarding confidence and humility?

I was a member of a church many years ago. The pastor asked for volunteers for any number of projects and events.
This included lawn work on the rectory property.

Each service,Sundays and Wednesday prayer meetings , he'd make the call for volunteers for this or that project. He'd always close by saying, remember as you consider these challenges we face, meaning the latest projects he'd listed, Jesus suffered till he died for the church. What are we asking in comparison to the suffering of our Lord?

He never wanted for volunteers. Who were asked to raise their hand after the call. This way the whole church could see who weighed the suffering of our Lord compared to our free time.

"For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance". Romans 8:24-25

Therefore, if we see what we once waited for, we have no further need to hope or wait. If not, then it is good to wait and persevere.
we are not saved yet! thks

I didn't say that Jesus said all were called, now, did I?

But don't artificially restrict the applications of Scripture to match your theology.

Jesus said that "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men to Myself." What does that mean to you?

Much love!
