I attended a social function recently at a small religious school where the principal, who is a Baptist pastor, invited the audience to sing ”our” doxology before retiring to the school cafeteria for lunch. I remained silent, until my grandson, who was sitting next to me, looked up and asked why I wasn’t singing. I quietly recited my creed, the Shema, in Hebrew. It didn’t escape the principal’s notice but he didn’t say anything directly to me about it. He did, however, make an announcement afterward that he would gladly skip his lunch to meet with anyone who didn’t sing the doxology and would like to speak with him about it.

I didn’t. (Neither did anyone else.) I ate my lunch while he steadily gazed at me across the lunchroom and ate his. My wife and grandson were oblivious to it. A brief, low impact, theological moment in my life, my grandson’s life, and the principal’s life that day. We’ll see where it goes. I don’t think that will be the end of it.

religion in general

Religion is man made........created by a man, and the idea is....>>"do all this, and you can achieve something by your DOING"..is the Myth.

Whereas..

CHRISTianity, is God created, and its God come down to offer Himself as Christ on the Cross for the sin of the world... John 3:16

That is not a Religion, that is a blood atonement and a new covenant established by the Blood and Death of Christ.

“There are two simple ways to prove that it [Christianity] is a religion:

1. The Bible.

James 1:26-27 is the only proof you need:

‘If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.’

The Bible uses the word ‘religion’ here to talk about pleasing God with your life.

Christianity = religion. Case. Closed.

2. The Dictionary.

If you want more proof, this time from the school of common sense, here are two definitions Merriam-Webster gives to ‘religion’:

* ‘the service and worship of God or the supernatural’

* ‘commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance’

Don’t both sound like true Christianity? Yes, they do.”

Primitive Christianity is a religion. Of that, I’m fully persuaded.
