How I Pray for Family and Friends who are not open to the Gospel.

I'm very much of an evangelist at heart so when God gives me an opportunity to preach the gospel that leads to salvation, I wont hesitate. Most times it happens when the Holy Spirit is prompting me to approach someone because he has given me discernment about their situation or because he has given me a revelation/vision of the condition of their heart and where they are heading at the moment...

However, there are times when you know you cannot approach someone because they are not open to receiving the gospel message for a variety of reasons. This is when I get to pray for them and where the Lords hand begins to move powerfully on their life in divine ways.

I mostly pray this way for non-believers ~ Father, thank you for.........I pray that you will grant them the opportunity of having the gospel presented to them in such a way that they may be given a revelation of your truth planted in their heart... and as this comes to pass, I pray that they may understand what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to them and are able to receive Jesus Christ as Lord of their life and their salvation. I pray that as this comes to pass Lord Jesus, that you will forgive them of theirs sins and wash them with your precious blood as your word says and that they may be usable for your kingdom and glory. I also pray Father that their names may be written in the lambs book of life, I ask this, in Jesus mighty name.

When I pray for the lost and unbelieving, I pray for conviction of sin, righteousness and coming judgment. I often pray that God's hand would be laid heavy upon them and that they would despair of life until they find life in Him. I believe God gives us free will, and generally the problem is not that people do not understand, but that they are hard-hearted. So, I pray the Spirit would crush them in their arrogance and independence to show how needy they are for God and that he would help them understand the reality of eternal judgment looming over them. Paul actually prayed for Hymenaeus and Alexander to be handed over to Satan and prayed for the man in Corinth committing sexual immorality that he might be handed over to Satan for the destruction (lit. killing) of the flesh so his spirit might be saved.
