Bragger!:tonguewink:

All govs should do this.
I wonder if Mercedes will bring back their fuel efficient Smart Cars?

They introduced those years ago when gas was skyhigh.
About $3.50/gallon here, give or take. I drive a car that should be getting about 35mpg, but I drive it in such a way that I'm getting about 41mph.

When I see people zooming like their pants are on fire, I just smile and say, "It's your engine, your money ...waste it how you please." Then I keep driving my way, in the outside lane, about 10 miles below speed limit, cruise control, but judiciously, coasting when appropriate, not heavy on the gas pedal when I accelerate. I know how to time my pace approaching a traffic light ...and study all the curves, the slightest change in incline, and adjust appropriately ...watching my continuous MPG gauge, and try to keep my MPG reading higher than my average MPG ...so my average keeps going up. lol

It's a challenge to me, and I have the same system when I travel to see my daughters and their families out of state... I have the turns and curves basically memorized and boy, you can coast for literally miles in the mountains. So I make sure I get to a certain speed near the top of the mountain, and then coast. lol

Price of gas in Farmington Missouri $3.69 plus or minus a few cents.
You're over toward the river. I bet it's pretty over there. But from what I can tell, people are selling properties over that way on the cheap. I think it's bc of the New Madrid.

To be honest I don't know property prices over at New Madrid. But the fault line is a concern.
Here in Farmington property prices are still high. My sons house that he bought for $114,000 is valued just under $300,000 now. Some people are selling and living in rentals until the prices come down and buying again.

I think there will be a housing crash sometime soon.

Here at New Zealand, it's about $13.00 (US dollars) for a gallon.

While the bulk of middle-class retail has started to go bye-bye, the RV/caravan/tiny home industry is an anomaly here - flat out booked several months into the future. It's actually become a renter's market.

I think there will be a housing crash sometime soon.
A friend (real estate agent) confides that the market has already died; they are still there to prop up what is left of incoming commissions.

re: housing crash:
You are right.
So my take is to get while the getting is still available. Folks have about 70% of their equity tied up in their homes. Today, that house is an asset. But margin calls by the banks are being made all over the place. I say, sell the thing, while you still can, to some hopeful who is willing to plop down a mortgage, even if it means losing a few points - especially if you yourself are in debt. At least you will get something for your asset while it is yet an asset. This thing could flip overnight; better earlier than one minute too late.

Wow that's by far the most expensive out of everyone that has posted on this thread
Angelina had posted earlier (she's from NZ, too), but she didn't convert it to US dollars and gallons:
The average price for unleaded 91 petrol is approximately $3.21 to $3.51 per litre. Prices across New Zealand vary daily by specific location and brand, with Unleaded 95 typically tracking $0.15 to $0.30 higher.

@Armour of God:
Your price is about half of ours. Plus, you have a lot more outback to explore!

$3.79 USD/gallon when I gassed up yesterday. At least with a Prius, I only have to fill it every two weeks.

For awhile I was considering riding my bike the 20 miles (32 km) to work, but as a contractor, I'm not permitted to use the showers in the employee Fitness Center. And I'd REALLY need a shower after riding 20 miles in the North Carolina summer humidity.

I also have a realtor friend who told me that home sales are way down.

What about an E-bike?

Yes I noticed her post and replied by saying it's over twice as much as ours.
Outback or not that's ridiculous.
Your government must be doing something wrong

What about an E-bike?
Years ago I bought one at some hippie bike store down in Carrboro. It's pedal-assistance rather than a pure electric bike, but that's fine. The company that made it is out of business now, so it's hard to get parts for. I was able to find a spare battery on the internet. I found a spare charger that was allegedly compatible with this brand, but it didn't work. The last time I used that bike, I got a flat about 10 miles from nowhere, and my stepson had to come get me in his truck. While worrying about "running out of gas", I forgot basic bike preparedness learned from using a bike as my main form of transportation in Colorado - always bring a couple of spare tubes, tools, and a hand pump. I know better than that.

The range of the e-bike is about 27 miles with level-2 pedal assistance. Level-1 is about the effort of pedaling a standard bike, but the range is in the low 30s. Level 0, you're pedaling a 60-pound bike and you feel it. For a 20 mile trip, I'd have to carry either the charger or the spare battery.

The real reason I haven't tried e-bike commuting: Our city has a nice north-south off-road bike trail that I could use and avoid the risks of automobile traffic, but it runs through some bad neighborhoods. We've had a few robberies along the trail, and a shooting about 3 weeks ago made the 11:00 news. I have a Concealed Carry permit and a few tools I could carry for that contingency, but my workplace is a posted no-firearms zone; being caught with a weapon in the building gets me fired and arrested, in no particular order. The common wisdom is, if you're not comfortable going someplace unless you're packing, you need to ask yourself if you REALLY need to be there.

(Of course, these days that includes just going to the grocery store.)

Or electric cars.
I guess you have to look at how much it costs to charge. I'm guessing it needs a lot of power to charge. And with climate change net zero policies around the world hiking the price of electricity it may not be as cheap as we think.

Also bikes have their dangers on the road.
You have no protection at all, cars dont see you sometimes, and a crash can cause serious injury or death very easily

What about a horse?

Yea sell now for $500,000.
Rent for a while or buy an RV
The when the house get back down to $200,000, buy again.
