You would think that. But they are used to being told that so nothing clicks. This religion is very hard to grasp that it exists but it does. They are under mind control and is very real.
Some that are personally affected by this particular issue do end up leaving & they are shunned. The rest of the congregation has no idea why they left and assumes wrongdoing on their part.
Leaving the religion has it's own unique hardships since they see everyone outside the religion as worshipping satan . When it comes to someone who has been sexually abused- reaching out for help is paramount. What has been hammered into their brains about everyone outside the org is a real problem. Yes it's a cult. People don't like hearing that word, and they have no idea of what this religion actually involves, but it is true nonetheless.

It's a blessing members gain the strength to leave. May God keep them in his protection.

Yes, it's a mixed sort of blessing. My heart breaks for them, but I am so glad they are free of that control. You can find many of their stories on youtube. I have spoken with some of them.
If you bring up this issue with current JWs- they will say it is all made up apostate lies. They won't even give the victim the time of day. It is a very well insulated isolated control group who are kept in total ignorance. They are not allowed to read or view anything that is not all for their religion. - Nothing!
Yet, they do believe it about the Catholic church and condemned them. It's hypocrisy at it's worst. But that is how it is with them.

Mental programming from childhood, generation after generation. For some it is all they know. And they have their own version of the Bible. They carry the KJV when they are going door to door to make people think they are regular Christians. A religion of deception and deceiving others, when they are only deceiving themselves.

I’m glad the Pennsylvania prosecutors are finally forcing these internal files into the light. From my own experience with sexual abuse, I know that the hardest part is often just being believed by the people you are supposed to trust. I ended up hiring an Oberheiden lawyer who helped me navigate the legal system when I felt like I had no voice. It was a long road, but it was worth it, we won the case, and my abuser is now behind bars for the next 8 years.

To anyone following this PA crisis: don't let the "internal inquiries" silence you. Civil and criminal courts are the only places where true accountability happens.

The IRS should revoke their religious 501(c)3 tax exemption.

Unfortunately, all religions within the united States are automatically exempt, under 508C1A status. The 501C3 is incorporated (corporation) status. This issue is also not merely prevalent to WTS / JW, but to humanity, and they exist within all places.
