A barren looking place this is. Scientists say the magma chamber is bulging and is one of the biggest in the world

Zombie volcanoes, not yet dead, come back with massive destruction.

A volcano that has not erupted in 250,000 years is showing signs of an imminent eruption that would cause destruction and loss of life.

Uturuncu, a so-called 'zombie' volcano located in the Andes Mountains of Bolivia, has experienced increased seismic activity and gas emissions, sparking fears that an eruption may be imminent.

This unrest is visible in a distinctive 'sombrero' pattern of ground deformation, where the land at the center of the volcano is rising while the surrounding area is sinking.

A team of scientists led by the University of Oxford in the UK discovered that this activity is due to the movement of liquid and gas beneath the crater, which sits above the largest known magma body in the Earth's crust.

Uturuncu stands over 19,700 feet high and is a stratovolcano—a large, steep, cone-shaped volcano built up by layers of hardened lava, volcanic ash and rock.

Mount St. Helens and Mount Vesuvius are also stratovolcanoes known for their catastrophic eruptions.

Uturuncu lies within 25 miles of three towns, and an eruption could cause widespread damage and pose a serious threat to life, researchers warned. It is about halfway between two major cities in South America, La Paz in Bolivia and Santiago in Chile.

Lava flows would engulf these nearby communities, while volcanic ash could spread across Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.

Wow, I pray for the people and hope they get to safe places.

250,000 years is an awful long time to stand placid, and hope it just has a little puff and settles back down again. as much as I think watching spectacular shows of nature on YouTube is awesome, I don't like the remains of what they leave behind.

No guarantees in this life.
Volcanoes do some good things while wrecking a lot of others. They help fertilize the soil. We will see what God will do. We are seemingly in the last days.

I didn't know they were a natural fertiliser...Our God is so cool...maybe the rumblings are His way of telling everyone to get out quick. Pompeii took no notice unfortunately.

Thank you for your post.

So, perhaps God is saying, “Y’all want global cooling, OK: just watch this!”

Peace.
Or, " I got your global warming!" :funlaugh2

If she goes off in Peru, being that's the ring of fire, what with the magma chamber being so vast, what effect would it have on tectonic plates?
Yellowstone is supposed to be the largest volcano in North America.

Chain reaction maybe?

The law of cause and effect….the “last days” were to be plagued by earthquakes and these shifts in the tectonic plated could trigger massive earthquakes all over the world…..nature will be used to show wickedly proud humanity that their weapons are like water pistols compared to the arsenal that the Creator has.

We are so close to “the end”.…when God will “bring to ruin, those who ruin the earth”….(Rev 11:18)

Sorry, the translation of the Greek Root Word "Seismos" as "earthquake" presents the wrong context of what Jesus was speaking about. In every case where G:4753 is found embedded in the Greek Text of the New Testament, its meaning of "turmoil" is more in keeping with the context the NT. I have never heard of an earthquake that has happened in the air as an Angel descends from Heaven. There is a different Greek word which describes and earthquake that is recorded in the NT.

Goodbye

Strongs Concordance states that “seismos” means….
  1. “a shaking, a commotion
  2. a tempest
  3. an earthquake”

And it goes on to list all the verses where this word occurs in the NT.

See for yourself…

“Seismos” definition and usage.

If you search for the word “turmoil” it is only mentioned in OT scripture.

turmoil

Please provide that “different” Greek word so we can check it out…the alternate meaning stated above is “tempest” which could describe the air as an angel descended from heaven…..not that many drew attention to themselves that way…
It is translated “storm” only once at Matt 8:24.

Thanks for confirming that even great scholars who have influenced our understanding of both Hebrew and Greek words have got it wrong as well.

Try G:4579.

Mt St Helens reforested itself.
Pocket Gophers helped.

Drove by it in 2109

That was my point. Mt. ST. Helens was the worst and it came back and fixed itself within a few years. People dreading volcano eruptions need to look back and see how fast areas recovers. Volcanos erupt under the ocean frequently. Look at Hawaii.

How well it recovers depends on a lot of things.
in 2019, we went to Oregon and drove all over. And there are a lot of volcanoes there.
One went off 7000 yrs ago according to science, and the surrounding land is still hard cinders and volcanic rocks. I think it depends on the fine ash content vs hard rock outflows or ejecta.

I took pics, and not changed much at all
