No because that is what is written!Really – because YOU said so?
Correct for it is the Word of God and not some ex-Cathedra pontifications from a self proclaimed ponticius maximun Vicarius Christi, that is profitable for doctrine. When the Catholic Church agrees with Gods word (which they it is) I say Amen, when it disagrees, I resist it with all I have.If you’re not a Catholic – I GUARANTEE that you don’t “adhere” to their teachings because the Bible is your only Authority.
Show in Acts 1:20 where it differentiates the office of Bishop from Apostle.
In fact – show me ANY verse that does
Well here is your problem. You do not understand bishop was merely an overseer- a pastor of a local assembly. They are also called shepherds and elders as well. It was Romanism that made men bishops or rulers over a district or region. Then came cardinals etc.
A bishoprick was an office of overseeing. The apostles held offices, but so didn't the pastors of all the local assemblies hold bishoporcks as pastors not a Roman styled Bishop whom you claim are Apostles .
But the offiuce of Apostle died with JOhn at the end of teh first century. The foundation of the church was laid down and since then we have been building the habitation of God on that A[postolic and Jesus foundation.
