John 3: "You must be born again."

The purpose of being "born again" is to change your parents.

But more tellingly, the Jewish people have used immersion as an adoption ceremony for over 2000 years. Should one convert to Judaism, part of that process is to be baptized "into Abraham," which is to say that Abraham becomes a father to the convert.

This practice is even referenced in the gospels, when John begins baptizing...

But when [John] saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. (Matt 3)

It does not say that baptism is an adoption ceremony. Do you have a verse that says baptism is an adoption ceremony?

Lots of "works" conditions in regards to salvation.......
You must be baptized.....you must be speaking in tongues......you must be doing good works.....you must be doing this....you must be doing that....there's no end to what people think they must do to be saved......and that's how satan keeps people occupied.....making people slaves................

No.
This is a good question for this forum.
I'm surprised at how many on this form believe that water baptism is necessary for salvation.
Coming from the Acts 2:38 bunch, who claim no forgiveness of sins without baptism.

"And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." - Acts 2:38 ESV

Best way to view baptism is.... YES we should get baptized because we are told to get baptized in scripture and we should do it out of obedience.

BUT, just like the one thief next to Jesus on the Cross that believed... if there are extenuating circumstances that prevents one from being abler to be baptized then in that situation the Lord would not count that as being discordant to the Lord's commandment to be baptized.
