Hi. I suffer with depression and I am going counselling soon.Anyway whenever I read the bible and I get to the bit where it says 'All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God' I start crying. I feel really guilty. Is this normal or is it part of having depression? Thanks again. Della

Depression in the bibleSince there's "nothing new under the sun", and depression is so prevalent, surely the bible has helpful / enlightening things to say about it ?I think these are relevant:psalm 42:5, 11; 43:5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance (and my God)Psalm 42:6: O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee . . .God's instruction (I believe) is to be mindful of Him, not the problem. When Moses spent time with God, his countenance was changed to that of God's and while his physically shone, we have better - a whole new heart & mind:-2Cor. 3:7: But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away::8: How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?I know people that have been healed of depression after they started believeing in God, I have pm'd you some testimonies.

I think its a little of both it is sad that we all have fallen short but depression cause's the simplest things to put us over the edge. Go to your counseling take medication if its prescribed and repent for your sin in the name of Christ today and tomorrow God will have given you a clean slate to start over. Ask Father to help you heal you do not need any one to interceed for you your father wants you to come directly to him he will lead and guide you along the way.I will pray for you.God Bless stay in his word he loves you

Della, The person at the well in John chapter four took special notice of "living water" and readily recognized "Messiah" while the disciples still called Him "Rabbi". YOU (you yourSELF) recognize God with 'tears of sorrow' whenever you pick up the bible (sounds like love to me) and have "rivers" (John 7:38, Revelation 7:16). Congratulations, God is LOVE, the GREATEST of these, 1 Corinthians 13:13. YOU don't simply FAITH God, do you?,... no, not you,...you LOVE Him (always remember that about yourself). Get to know yourself better. Realize who you are, and get to know the real you. BE that person. Establish your identity in yourself and identify with God. "I am who I am" wants to have a personal relationship with the real you because you LOVE Him. He wants you to learn from His spirit how to "WALK BY THE SPIRIT" (since that's how you live, Galatians 5:16 and 25). You are "LOW IN SPIRIT" because you CRY/sorrow (Matthew 5:3)... There are 2 messages in scripture. You will see the second one with LOVE, and you will find "the depths of God" (1 Corinthians 2:10) and the "better things" that belong to salvation (Hebrews 6:9) because you have a spirit of love/sorrow. When you learn from God's spirit, His spirit will purify your conscience (Hebrews 9:14) and you will live according to the law of liberty (James 1:25 and 2:12). Because of your love, you will learn a "MORE EXCELLENT WAY" (1 Corinthians 12:31, the way of LOVE). The "WORD OF TRUTH" (the bible, 2 Timothy 2:15, Ephesians 1:13, John 14:6) is the INTRODUCTORY doctrine that teaches us to "HEAR" (John 10:27) the "SWORD OF THE SPIRIT" (Ephesians 6:17). His spirit is the GUARANTEE of eternal life (2 Corinthians 1:22, 2 Corinthians 5:5, Ephesians 1:14). The WHOLE fullness of God is in JESUS (Colossians 2:9) and be justified IN CHRIST (not by works, Galatians 2:16). You will receive "living water" baptism in your heart AND MIND (Romans 12:2). The "hirelings" (John 10:13) have not taught us to "enter by the door" (John 10:1).Depression is mainly an identity crisis, BUT there should be NO "self abasement" (no self abaTement/abandonment, Colossians 2:18, Colossians 2:23). Get to know yourself well.Christianity has always been under the "strong delusion" because there was no passion for the truth (2 Thessalonians 2:10). God bless you, Della.

All do fall short, but in Christ, nobody is short of His glory at all.Trust Christ, and do not worry about your own sin. Your sin is inconsequential when you are in Christ. It is as if you never sinned at all.Go boldy before the thrown of GRACE. You are not short of His glory, in Christ.
