... To think that in a time so critical to mankind and a sleeping worldly unthinking church attempting to use politics as an answer to the immorality and lack of concern and love for their fellow man, that God would not be pleading to His people to repent through prophets.
The church for the most part no longer holds the Bible as authoritative. It's members are more concerned with political influence and the right to own firearms rather than holiness and right living. It's pastors live in palaces while those in the pews starve for sound doctrine.
A string of prophets were sent to Israel to call them back from the brink of destruction. The church is now in that same position and you believe God isn't concerned and He has left the church without a voice? The church is ignoring scripture... Pretending they have the holy Spirit to cover up their hypocrisy... Compromising truth and righteousness for the sake of material wealth and political power... So God hasn't sent any warning? If you do not realise the danger, perhaps you're not listening to the prophets?

Agreed B.L.
The Church has lost her power...the Spirit has left the building! Lack of faith in His power so...gotta jazz things up a bit, SMH. Can't rely on the Holy Spirit to draw people, nope! Must have fancy bands and lighting and weak preaching on the same things over and over, never seemingly even trying to get off the milk. Christians aren't hungry for His depths! No ears to hear or eyes to see any further than their noses. Pretty empty faith if you ask me. Makes it tough to find someone in the congregations to partner with, prayer, study and fellowship.
Nice to see you haven't left BL

I think it's because of these reasons that the prophets the Lord will raise up will become increasingly unpopular. For one, it is said that they will call believers to walk in true holiness, and that in and of itself isn't popular, aside from those who are truly hungry for God. It is also said that they will expose the present religious hierarchy for lacking the true authority they claim to possess, which will likely lead to the saints and prophets eventually being killed (Revelation 18:24, Revelation 19:2). But yes, alongside Joel 2:28, there appears to be every indication that great prophetic utterance will go forth before the end, and will bring consolation and encouragement to the faithful, while subjecting those who stand defiantly against the True and Living God to chastisement and judgment.

By the way. I don't hold myself up as any sort of exception. We are all asleep and distracted by entertainment and jealous for popularity in the eyes of the world. We are fearful of ridicule. We cower before threats and accusations of being racist and homophobic. We are cowards.

Half the church today doesn't even believe in the prophetic ministry. Oh, they say, prophecy finished with John. We have the Bible. We have the Spirit. Which is true, yet they are still not hearing the message. And as you say and as Jesus said, if they hear not Moses...
I will unabashedly cite the example of Ellen White. How many criticise her without giving her a hearing? How many haven't bothered to read her work but blindly accept quotes from her enemies as evidence against her? How many charge her with all manner of evils but refuse to hear anything in defense? How many only read the controversial quotes but ignore the passages that speak prophetically a hundred years of her time? People do to her precisely what they do to scripture... Remove context and cherry pick that which they feel is easy to use as support for their own inadequacies and hypocrisy.

Ellen G. White had many good things in her writings. Unfortunately she also included many errors in her teachings. And there is no denying that.

We have a lot of people claiming to be prophets (or prophetesses) at this time, but if their doctrines do not line up with the Word of God, then they are not genuine: To the Law and to the Testimony: if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them. (Isaiah 8:20)

There is probably no denominational church teaching error which would welcome Bible truth and Gospel truth which exposes their error and exhorts them to repent. There is probably not a single well-known pastor, evangelist or teacher who is preaching and teaching error, who who would accept correction and repent. And as we see on Christian forums, those who hold to false doctrines simply double down in their error and never repent.

I'm never one for simply ignoring people. I was at my aunt's house for Christmas last year (or the year before) and was looking through her bookshelf. She's not religious, so the only Christian material she had on it were a few books I had given her. But then I noticed a book by Ellen White (which she said someone gave her as well), and since I was kinda getting bored I decided to sit down and take a look, and I liked what I was reading. It was about sanctification, and I thought what she was saying was very solid.

On the prophetic side, I have tried reading the Controversy a few times (once at Quiet's request). The only thing is that it is so heavily laced with opposition to Sunday worship as a central theme that I find it tough to follow. But I do accept the parts that suggest the RCC will unfortunately become an enemy to true believers in the end-times. I think that is fully born out by Revelation 17 and 18.

So although at present I am still not convinced that the major tenet of her work is valid, I don't throw out the baby with the bathwater either.
