Tell me, what right has the doctor to refuse medical treatment because they (the doctors) doesn't believe in it?

A Nigerian man, Chris Adams, has taken to Facebook to mourn the tragic loss of his pregnant wife, Victoria Paris, who reportedly passed away during childbirth after a woman, a Jehovah’s Witness doctor allegedly refused to conduct a life-saving blood transfusion due to religious beliefs.

And likely her depraved indifference and vacating her Hypocratic Oath was legal.

In a real world not influenced by Satan, that woman doctor would be under arrest for depraved indifference homicide. And of course she'd never practice medicine again even if acquitted.

Oh, seriously…do you believe every bit of gossip you find on the internet? Did you even check the news source before you posted ? It is full of unsubstantiated allegations.

This is absolute rubbish. A JW doctor’s religious beliefs would never put the life of a patient in danger.
This just sounds like a media beat up to me....never let the truth get in the way of a good story…..especially one that involves hate sensationalism as a motive.

Where is the proof of the “alleged” conduct? There are two sides to every story and it would indeed be interesting to hear the doctor’s response. Those who jump to instant judgment only hearing one side of a story would not want the same treatment themselves.

Shame on you for posting such unsubstantiated gossip. Your motive is very apparent….as is the depth of your knowledge about blood transfusion….and why good doctors won’t use them. Educate yourself.

"Gossip"? Really? As if you check every news source about Jehovah's Witnesses, or do you just dismiss it all as just "apostate propaganda"? Had it been a Jehovah's Witness who was forced a blood transfusion, you'd have a different opinion

As a matter of fact I did. And if you did a search, you'd find that there are several news and medical sites that are carrying this story.

Will you now apologize to Berean because you didn't do your own research before criticizing Berean?
Please check and see that all sources had the same Facebook post as their single source….all the things said against this doctor were allegations….not substantiated facts. I sympathize with the man and his family and his need to blame someone for the loss of his wife, but ignorant allegations that are not in line with proven facts are just slanderous.

How does he know that his wife would not have died even if she had received a blood transfusion? There are no guarantees that a blood transfusion will save anyone.
Educate yourself please, because you are passing judgment on one side of a story, jumped for its sensational suggestion that the doctor neglected the needs of her patient due to her own religious beliefs, when the woman could have suffered a catastrophic hemorrhage that no amount of blood would have saved. Get the facts before you make a judgment.

Are you a medical specialist in this field….is the woman’s husband a medical expert or is he just letting his grief speak in ignorance.
The link below is from medical specialists in this field….transfusions are not as safe as they lead you to believe.

Dangers of Blood Transfusions

Shame on all who judged a doctor from this slander…..unless you know all the facts, you are committing a sin yourselves…..what did Jesus say?
Matt 7:1-2…
”Stop judging that you may not be judged; 2 for with the judgment you are judging, you will be judged, and with the measure that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you.”

How we judge others, and on what basis, is how God will use the same kind of judgment on us.

Update:
"Public health advocates are now urging the Rivers State Ministry of Health and Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to investigate the circumstances surrounding Victoria’s death. “There must be a balance between religious rights and the sanctity of human life, especially in critical care,” said one legal analyst."

sorry my post hasn’t quoted properly - the above is an earlier post.
It’s a very thin line with regards to making judgements, as clearly you have concluded that this would not happen and that it is media hype , Is that not making a judgment as well without hearing the other side of the story.
I agree that alleged is not proof, but it’s very easy to have opinions and thoughts either way, something we are all guilty of at times xx

Just an observation but in some of the links it states Chris was her husband, in other sources it’s saying brother / brother in law.
I must admit that I am always a bit wary of some of the sources for these stories, Facebook and websites with loads of ‘ Really weird stories ‘ and stupid ads.
One of the photos of Chris on an early link looked more like an AI photo, and not even sure if it’s the same women in two of the links.
I personally find it strange that a surgeon would refuse a blood transfusion on someone else because of their own beliefs, unless of course the patient had the same beliefs. Thats just my opinion though.

I haven't yet searched for her obituary.

Thank you for being unbiased about this subject Rita…..the media do not let the truth stand in the way of a juicy story, especially one that tugs at already existing prejudice.

If anyone bothered to watch the video I provided regarding the true story about how beneficial blood transfusions really are, they would avoid them at all costs like any dedicated physician would, knowing the truth…but it’s a multi-million dollar industry that is not going to allow the truth to spoil their profits.

No JW doctor would ever allow their own “religious” beliefs interfere with their medical decisions on non-Witness patients….but that aside, the judgment that some people jump to with no real evidence that this story was even authentic…..or a deliberate twisting of the truth, illustrates how easily people can be misled by a media beat-up. The whole story was alleged, not substantiated by any real evidence of malpractice on the part of the doctor.

It was in Nigeria after all…the home of the world’s worst internet scammers.…and the incident was supposed to have taken place in a maternity clinic that doesn’t even come up in a Google search, even though the story does…..all have the same source….a Facebook post.
Don’t we need to ask some pertinent questions before jumping on a bandwagon that merely feeds hatred based on media-fed prejudice?

How many Nigerian men do we know who have American sounding names like “Christ Adams”? With a wife named “Victoria Paris”? Do they sound ‘Nigerian’ to you?

Secondly, if we look up the leading causes of death in Nigeria….”Birth asphyxia and birth trauma” and “Preterm birth complications“ are in the top 5.…

This wasn’t even in a hospital, or in a country where “preterm birth complications” are uncommon, in spite of who the doctor is. Doesn’t it pay to check whether something is true before spreading what amounts to malicious gossip?

With this amount of time that's passed, I think if this was fake news we'd have heard by now.
Or, conversely, if it was true, why we haven’t heard about any prosecution?
I haven't yet searched for her obituary.
I’ll actually be surprised if any of it is true? Even if these people had a Nigerian names, it would have a shred more credibility? But seriously….you want to believe it, so you help spread the gossip?

Who needs to apologize?

The Rivers State Anti-Quackery Committee has sealed and revoked the registration license of a clinic, located on Captain Amangala Street in Borokiri, Port Harcourt.

The action was taken by the Committee, led by the Director of Medical Services, Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, following an unscheduled inspection on Monday, prompted by reports of the death of one Mrs. Victoria Paris.

Mrs. Paris reportedly died after undergoing a caesarean section at the facility, and was allegedly refused blood transfusion by the medical personnel based on religious beliefs.

In a statement signed by Dr. Hope Avundaa on behalf of the Rivers State Interprofessional Anti-Quackery Committee, it was revealed that the facility operated from a three-bedroom apartment converted into a six-bed maternity home run by one Comfort Etuk.

According to the Committee, inspections revealed that the clinic had no licensed nurse on site and was functioning beyond its approved scope, including performing surgical procedures in a poorly equipped environment.

The statement added that the facility also lacked a standard sterilization unit and failed to meet Infection Prevention and Control, IPC, standards.

The Committee has summoned all health workers, including doctors affiliated with the facility, to appear before the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, panel.

Meanwhile, the state chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Dr. Diamond Tamunokuro, condemned the unethical practices of medical doctors working in substandard maternity homes, describing such affiliations as highly unprofessional and dangerous.

The statement added, “This exercise is a continuation of the anti-quackery mandate of the Rivers State Ministry of Health and the Nigerian Medical Association, Rivers State and other Healthcare Affiliate Associations in the State.”

Are you serious? Do the words “allegedly“ and “reportedly” mean that a case was proven against a JW doctor for refusing a blood transfusion to a patient based on her own beliefs?

Why did they shut the clinic down? Because anything was proven? No! Just on the “reports” which are not substantiated.
It’s impossible to get through to anyone who is taken in by sensationalized media reports especially when nothing reported was ever more that an “allegation”.
I hope you never find yourself in that position when justice is supposed to be “innocent until proven guilty”.
Not the other way around…..and not in a country like Nigeria noted for its dishonesty.

That's unconscionable and pathetic.

The clinic was shut down so an investigation could begin. Meanwhile, a woman DIED when a patient at that clinic.

She never got to hold and cherish her baby. That's not alleged. That's not, a maybe so.

When a woman's corpse is at the morgue after a C-section was botched at that clinic,it is incumbent on authorities to shut the clinic asap. Because the facts are there as pertains to a patient who bled to death in that facility.

It is a matter of responsibility for the public good not to allow business as usual to continue. Give the facts this far. A dead formerly pregnant woman hemorrhaged to DEATH!

And now, with the public made safe from the closure of that clinic , a full investigation can ensue. Because there's always the risk of a cover up if the crime scene isn't contained as soon as possible.

And it is a crime for an allegedly doctor to allegedly withhold blood from a patient because said alleged doctors personal faith ideology says, no blood transfusions allowed ever.

Good. Keep that faith. However, said alleged doctor cannot act against a patients best medical interest by forcing said alleged doctors personal beliefs upon her.

If the facts pan out as reported thus far, that allegedly doctor is guilty of malpractice. And state side, it would garner a charge of at the very least, depraved indifference homicide.

Jane, this has NOTHING to do with who is and isn't a medical specialist. It has to do with a JW doctor pushing their religious beliefs on a patient.
You spread gossip with malicious intent…without checking the validity of the subject, or the people making the claims.….that speak a lot about you.
As I asked before, had this been a non-JW doctor forcing a blood transfusion on a JW patient, would we be having this conversation? Or maybe we can move on to other topics, I have plenty we can discuss.
Are you suggesting that these are somehow on the same level?
Have you ever got anything to “discuss” except accusations? Not interested in a witch hunt.

If a non JW doctor forced a transfusion on a Witness patient when consent was denied, then that is grounds for prosecution.…especially in first world countries.
A doctor is given medical grounds upon which to conduct his/her procedures, and their decisions are usually based on years of training and experience. He/she is allowed to exercise their own judgment on an individual case basis. If surgery is to be performed, it is usually with informed consent, having consulted with the patient beforehand, and carrying out their wishes.

You come across as a trouble making hater who has nothing better to do than diss those who disagree with you.
If you want blood, then by all means that is your decision to make, but don’t put yourself in a doctor’s position when you know nothing about the subject except what you have been led to believe by the media.

The video I provided from a completely independent source, which includes statements from experts in this field of medicine from all over the world, outlines what honest doctors have been warning about for decades now…..ignore them if you wish. That is your prerogative.

We do not force our beliefs on others…..but we will sound the warning when it comes to blood because it is sacred to the Creator, and it’s misuse has and is causing “morbidity” (complications) and “mortality” (death) to those who don’t do their homework….and that includes lazy doctors.
