[Matthew 13:54-56 KJV] 54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this [man] this wisdom, and [these] mighty works? 55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this [man] all these things?

Jesus clearly had brothers and sisters. The verses are talking about Joseph (who they thought was his father), and Mary his mother; they were talking about his family when they identified Jesus's brothers and sisters.

It would make no sense to suddenly switch and say his brothers and sisters were disciples when they were talking of his family identity. If Christ's brothers and sisters were disciples why would they only name a few?

Matthew 13:55–56 is crystal clear, Jesus had real, physical siblings. The crowd mentions His mother Mary, His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas, and then adds, “And his sisters, are they not all with us?” They were talking about His family, not disciples. The Greek words adelphoi and adelphai literally mean brothers and sisters born of the same parents. John 7:5 even says His brothers didn’t believe in Him at the time, which wouldn’t make sense if they were just followers. There’s no reason to spiritualize this. The Bible plainly teaches Jesus had siblings.

With NON-Biblical writings as follows, no wonder so many are helplessly & hopelessly fooled into believing the perpetual virginity non-sense taught by the Catholic Church & others.

The Catholic church uses great mental gymnastics in order to say that Mary was a perpetual virgin but it is plain for all to see that Jesus had brothers and sisters.

After all it would make no sense for Mary to remain a virgin when the scriptures tell women to submit to their husbands. She would of been a very bad wife not to submit to her husband.
I would be very upset if I married a woman and then she refused to love me and refused to let me love her.

I don't know who disputes that Jesus had brothers and sisters.
But it doesn't say they all had the same parents.
Some have suggested that Joseph had children from another marriage before he betrothed Mary.
Mat 13:55

Up until 1000 years ago polygamy was legal under Torah. So it wouldn't be uncommon in the days when Jesus was born.

Approximately one thousand years ago, the noted German scholar Rabbi Gershom “the Light of the Diaspora” banned polygamy.1 This ban was accepted as law by all Ashkenazic Jews, but was not recognized by Sephardic and Yemenite communities.

Just something to consider.

What you say about those texts being extra-biblical writings is true. The Protoevangelium of James is not Scripture and Christians should not be formulating doctrine from writings decades or centuries after the fact. The Bible is our authority.

However, the real issue is exactly what the Bible plainly says.

Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel.” ~Matthew 1:23.

And following that birth Scripture talks about a normal family scenario. The people of Nazareth said, “Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us?” ~Matthew 13:55–56.

Even tells us something about those brothers. “For neither did his brethren believe in him.” ~John 7:5. That would have been referring to members of His household who had not yet come to believe.

Matthew tells us Joseph “knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son.” ~Matthew 1:25. The point of that statement was to explain they had not come together prior to Jesus’ birth.

Point of correction here is simple. The doctrine that Mary remained a virgin her entire life is NOT taught in Scripture. It was something that developed outside of the Bible long after. The Bible affirms Christ’s virgin birth but it plainly mentions His brothers and sisters.
