Just to show you something about Greek. it can say "Jesus loves Paul" 25 different ways. ALL meaning the exact same thing.

What nobody has done yet is to explain what Jesus meant by "Do not believe me?" That is the issue, not does Jesus say believe in me elsewhere (obviously he does).

KUWN, when you switch to the translation "have faith in me," you are subtly introducing the word εἰς into a sentence when it is not actually there in the Greek, which is why you have to be careful in translation. He uses the phrase "believe IN Me" / "have faith IN Me" on occasion, but when He does so He means more than just "believe Me."

Case in point: Matthew 18:6 has, 6 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea." (τῶν πιστευόντων εἰς ἐμέ).

Here He means more than simply "believe Me." He is talking about these little children putting their faith IN Him, which is a different thing.

Blessings. As I have time I will get back,
- H

Sorry no one is seeming to pick up on your intent for the thread, but that that says something itself.

Jesus taught that He should not be believed unless His life was conforming to His words.

Jesus likewise challenged them,

John 8:46 KJV
Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

Can you imagine how ferociously they would have wanted to pin some sin, any sin, on Jesus?

His life was blameless, and beyond reproach, and demonstrated the power of God.

Much love!
I picked up on his intent.
He made a statement and closed it with a period.

Then he asked if we could believe a spiritual leader, Jesus was just a spiritual leader? Would say such a thing.

When the fact is,Jesus never made the statement Kuwn attributes to him.

So in fact,no we can't ever believe Jesus, not any old spiritual leader category, said such a thing. Because Jesus never did say that.

I cannot find what bible you are using.

John 10:37- KJV- If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not
I use the Critical Greek New Testament. I don't give much support for English Translations. Many of you out here have made statement that show no awareness of the Greek New Testament. That is a sorry commentary on how Christians think.
Fortunately, everyone here sees what you are doing by misrepresenting the words, teachings,of Jesus.

We do not explain beyond the fact we have exposed you falsify scripture.

Why you do this is between you and your conscience.

This thread is a falsehood that goads believers from post 1.
I'm surprised it is allowed in a forum for Christians.
Sister-n-Christ, It seems to me that you are not capable to join this site. People should at least show some knowledge of the NT. You are so far off, I almost questioned your salvation. But I will just assume you are a babe in Christ. I don't think you have the ability to see how far you are off in assessing my post. If you stop calling me one who falsifies the scripture, I will not block you, but if you insist on calling me all kinds of inappropriate names, I will block you. You have not answered my question because you don't even see what I asked. There were a few others in the same boat.

Just what I've observed already. Misrepresenting the actual words, and by connection to that, teachings of Jesus.
You're thinking is that KUWN's purpose in starting this thread was to misrepresent the teachings of Jesus?

I'm thinking it was to make the point that we can't just say who we are and expect that to mean anything if we are not being who we say we are.

@KUWN am I over the target?

Much love!

Your thinking is in line with the purpose edit Kuwn applied to the scripture in question.

If Jesus has said what Kuwn stated in the thread title and the OP,and thereafter until they felt compelled by replies to admit they altered Jesus full remarks, then yes. We could say a religious figure told readers not to follow him. Because he said that specifically.

However, Jesus never did say that.

Jesus said ,in simple terms, don't follow him if he isn't doing the work of God.

I am unable to assist you if you agree with Kuwns's tactics as they misrepresent Jesus teachings.

If I said to someone, go ahead and use the car.

Yet,omitted, but only after you add oil and buy gas as soon as you're on the road . Because the car won't get a mile before it comes out.

Did I actually tell you that full bit of information about the car in the first and only sentence I posted?

Have you sought out what Kuwn means in Hebrew?

Thank you for showing us what you are about.

The boat we here are in? Is the N.T Salvation. Our Captain is Jesus Christ. Also known as, Imma uel "God with us", and also Yeshua bin Joseph, Joshua son of Joseph.

Our Captain said what he meant and meant what he said. Then he gave himself on the cross to seal his teachings in an eternal covenant.

Oh,how that angers the enemy.

I guess I was laboring under a burden others didn't share, as I recognized immediately what passage KUWN had in mind. So I came to this thread with a very different thought from the others.

Much love!

You will see tomorrow. I am making those who are not serious students of the Scriptures do some independent study. Why doesn't someone pick up a concordance and you can easily find it.
It's not there
I am using the critical text of the Greek NT. You are probably reading other people's opinions in an English Translation.
It's not in any text
I didn't want to spoon feed you. Scholarship is about searching it for yourself. Any concordance will show you. However, tomorrow will give the verse. If you don't know the simple task of using a concordance, you are probably not a serious student of scripture. I am not saying you are not a serious student, but your comments lend themselves to that.
Ok..it's now today. I bet you are going to say "HaHa I made you look"

Many of us know what he's up to. Serious students of the Bible don't delete the full statement of Jesus in an important passage thinking they're teaching Christian's how to read the Bible.

If someone respects the teachings they don't state that Jesus said, don't follow me.
And then claim they're challenging us to learn Jesus said what actually fills the full sentence Kuwn deleted in the subject line and OP. And refused to post in full in numerous follow-up posts.

Then Kuwn personally attacks one,me,who recognizes his tactics. Implying I'm not qualified to be here and even attempted to question my state of Salvation in a way that wouldn't get him put on report.

There is nothing to be learned in Koin Greek,Hebrew,Aramaic or English, when someone states Jesus said something he never did.

"Don't follow me."

That's Kuwn's message.

Can you believe a religious leader would say such a thing?

Get it? The real message?

It was meant to be provocative.

You don't even know how to spell Koine. You have to admit that's pretty sorry.

That's Kuwn's message. (I never said that)
